I was looking at footage of The Witcher 3 on PS4 and Xbox One and could not help but be very impressed at what that these consoles were delivering.

Graphically, the game is gorgeous. PC enthusiasts will make fun of the 30fps cap, but the fact is, we all know that 30fps is more than adequate for gaming.
With 33.5 million sold as of April 11th 2015(VGChartz numbers), we have 33+ million consoles which can run The Witcher 3 at those graphical settings. High end PC enthusiasts know very well that there aren’t nearly as many PCs which can run this game on their mythical “ultra” settings.
Spending too much time at Digital Foundry will make you develop a warped view of what is actually happening when it comes to graphical progress in gaming…especially on consoles. They build high end PCs, crank up the graphical settings as far as they can, then make comparisons/face offs. The findings are accurate, but it does present an inaccurate view of what the actual gaming landscape is like.
PS4/Xbox One games look very good and they will continue to improve. If they continues to sell this well, we will have at least 120+ million of these consoles on the market at some point, and that will be good business for console gaming.
Judging from what we are seeing so far, there is a humungous amount of potential with the PS4/Xbox One. Game developers truly have platforms which allows them to spread their wings and innovate.
John Carmack (2013):
“There’s so much you can still do on the previous console generation. The 360 and PS3 are far from tapped out in terms of what a developer could do with them, but the whole world’s gonna move over towards next-gen and high-end PCs and all these other things,”
And John Carmack wasn’t even talking about PS4/Xbox One….
