Forums - Sony - Some tidbits about Heavy Rain (PS3)

Sounds really promising.
I hope they deliver.

I haven't even heard of Farenheit and Indigo Prophecy, anyone care to fill me in?

Farenheit PAL/Indigo Prophecy NTSC is the same game.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indigo_Prophecy

OT : I beat Farenheit/Indigo Prophecy for one reason only, the story line also it cool Matrix similarities, but hated the gameplay (frustrated and crap). If Haevy Rain going to have a revamped gamplay of Farenheit/Indigo Prophecy then I'll be very disappointed.

Thanks for the info.  I really like story driven stuff, so I might very well check this game out, especially if the gameplay videos look good.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

@ Akuma587, I posted a tech demo which the game will probably pretty much look like, in case you missed it, cause I don't know how to embed. :(

meh, i already live in the real world and a game that makes you feel like being in the real world doesnt really makes sense to me.

On Gameplay:
"With the release of Fahrenheit, we gave the adventure genre a new grammar. We brought new ways into the genre, new words if you want to see it like that, a new vocabulaire vocabulary. With Heavy Rain, where we're going to expand on that same grammar."

What's with the terrible grammer and spelling? In a section that's talking about grammer too!

Interesting information. I'm really interested in seeing some videos of Heavy Rain in action. Sony have been very impressed with Quantic Dream's progress from the beginning. (Asking them to make a video to show off at E3 '06 so soon after development started.)

The game sounds like it's going to be very emotional and personal.

I'm not sure if the irony was intentional, but you spelt "grammar" wrong.

Heavy Rain is a French game. Vocabulaire is the French word for vocabulary. And they are talking about the grammar of the adventure game, not written grammar.

The text was originally translated from an article in a Dutch magazine by someone at Kotaku so the spelling mistakes are not by the developer.

It'll probably be an ambitious but heavily flawed project like Quantic Dream's first two games.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

Heavy Rain is an adventure game. It's a psychological game, not an action game. It's about solving puzzles and interacting with NPC's. You might have a chance to kill some people or maybe non at all. Again it's not about action it's story all there is. It's like mass effect without RPG elements and action gameplay. Gameplay in adventures is simple tasks.
