Forums - Gaming - Watch Dogs 2 Listed on Programmer's LinkedIn Profile

Ubisoft may be working on a sequel to last year's Watch Dogs, according to the LinkedIn profile of a senior gameplay programmer at Ubisoft.

Julien Risse's profile previously stated that he had worked on Watch Dogs and its add-on Bad Blood, as well as Watch Dogs 2. The Watch Dogs 2 reference has since been removed from RIsse's page, but not before screenshots of the original could be captured.

Though Watch Dogs 2 hasn't been announced, Ubisoft staff have talked about a potential sequel before. In January, the game's creative director admitted that Watch Dogs had "a lot of room for improvement", and that a sequel would "carry on taking risks".

Watch Dogs first came out in May last year, and by October, it had shipped 9 million copies worldwide. It's available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U.

Ubisoft confirmed long ago that Watch Dogs was only the first game.

Despite the criticism, with those sales for the original game, it would be surprising if they did not release a sequel

After 2014, i am not in good mood for Ubisoft. Child of Light sequel will be all i will get from them.

If it's an Assassin's Creed 2 level of improvement it's all good.

Guess I'm not too surprised.

Whether or not it'll fix the problems of the first one, we'll have to find out.

Knowing Ubisoft, probably not.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

The game had it's flaws, but a lot of this "criticism" was unfair.  Pure exaggeration really.

Ubi has a solid base in their hands.  Some tweeks here and there and they may create a new AC2.

this is old news, i've got the wiiu version and am enjoying it alot. a good game, funny how nobody wrote off gta with all its control issues but watchdogs got buried by the press. its not coming to wiiu eventhough they made pretty good use of the gamepad.

I'm surprised companies don't straight-up fire these idiots. It's bad enough we have anonymous jackasses who ruin reveals way ahead of schedule, now we have jackasses doing it on their linkedin profiles? Why? Are you scouting for a new job, while you're in the middle of your current job? Well, here's your walking papers, and don't expect a letter of recommendation. However, you can expect us to contact your future employer and caution them about allowing you to work on any unannounced content.

Pretty much every new AAA IP that is launched nowadays is meant to be turned into a franchise, even in a case where the initial game underperforms. Only an outright flop can stop a sequel.

True
