I don't get what's going on here. We were told things would be getting back to normal. They're not.
We've been told that ioi still handles the data on his own, but it doesn't look like he cares enough to process it anymore. He's so far behind now that the task of catching up will likely be a miserable one and will only get worse the longer he waits. This year has shown that having one person responsible for this just isn't going to cut it anymore. It needs to be a team effort, so that when one person falls behind, someone else can step in and pick up the slack.
The other thing that doesn't make sense is this - let's say ioi really is planning on abandoning the site and has just been blowing smoke up our asses about things getting back to normal. If he's planning on moving on to another site, then I don't know how reassured investors (are there investors with sites?) will feel about giving him money when they look back at the utter abandonment of his previous work.
The other thing that doesn't make sense to me is everyone's reactions on the forums when somebody brings up the fact that all of this is going on. The main purpose of the site is to provide sales figures. That main purpose is not being met. We are almost 2 months behind now, and people are getting upset about it. Whenever someone mentions being upset about it, they are bombarded by community members who tell them to stop whining and just relax. Even, the mods are locking other threads that are created to discuss the constant neglect that is happening and telling people to only use this thread to voice there concern. Well, guess what. What's going on is a major issue - the sole purpose of the site hasn't been met in almost two months. This site has a community, and the members of that community have every right to get into an uproar about it. They do have every right to create threads and make those responsible have to look at the discontent wherever they are on this site. It's how people have brought change to society for the entirety of history - rioting and protests. Hushing people up and confining their complaints to a singular corner of the website only hurts the chances of the site regaining itself. The people responsible for the issue (namely ioi) need to see what they've done to the site/community and not be shielded from it less they choose to click on this one topic.
I'm usually a lurker, and I do enjoy reading the topics here just as much as anyone else. The community is great, but there is a higher reasoning for this site existing in the first place. Until that existence is restored, none of us should be sitting content about it, and that includes ioi.
I am sorry for him if he is experiencing some tough issues in his personal life, but he has responsibilities. It has been his decision to keep those responsibilities to himself, and if he can no longer fulfill them, he needs to accept that and create a numbers team. This site needs a solution, and the one he's given us this year is not working. Period.
