I'm on it! It's not easy because you have to do a gazillion missions, but, if you want something amazing, you have to work! :). And I agree with your post, the combat system is superb. I'm somewhat angry with reviews which said it's repetitive. Of course, if you keep using the same class throughout the entire game. But you have 6 classes to choose and you can change whenever you want!

I played the game and i find it so fantastic with this beautiful massive world to explore but do you think XCX is the right JRPG to begin with?

OK so for those who don't know I haven't played the game and won't until Christmas. So all I can do is watch early level streams (the cold reactions from some of these people to Mira are awesome :P ) and study the base mechanics. And one thing I think has been undersold by Nintendo is the Soul Voice system. Seriously, look into that. You tweak your character's Soul Voices (fyi, your Soul Voices are what your character cries out when you succede a Soul Challenge (the battle QTE) to fit your team and play style and you can really drive up your damage and get a lot of healing. Seriously, I've seen soul combos just rek enemies and keep teams at almost full HP against tough opponents. It takes some finicking, but it pays dividends. It's almost like a real time, dynamic chain attack system when you get it firing on all cylinders.

Hm, I have to test if it works like that. Never looked into that option because I thought it's just about changing the messages that other players will receive online.

Well I can't be positive about all the particulars but yeah, the basic gist is a combo system.  For example, when Elma destroys a limb, she'll say "Appendage destroyed, move in and strike!"  This is her calling for melee and if you answer with the desired art there's a bit of healing plus other effects you can see in her Soul Voice options.  Just watch when you do that QTE, your character will call out like they do and you'll know if they answer because of the little ring flash thing that appears around your character when they do it; you'll recognize it from what happens when you answer theirs.  For example, there's one where your character says something along the lines of "I'm hurt, heal me!  Hury!" which calls for a buff to be cast (not necessarily healing, but a green buff art).  If they answer you with said art, it temporarily boosts the healing from Soul Voices by 300% iirc.  So yeah, quite handy.

I knew about the soul voices and the ring flash before. Now after checking the options, I have to say that I didn't miss much. You can pick between three different effects, but most of the time my favorite of the three has been the default. Yes, it wasn't fully optimized for my playstyle, but it wasn't far off either.

Ok, was just putting it out there cause it seems easy to miss if one doesn't look for it.  And I've seen more than one person open the menu, have their eyes go really wide, and then they just back out like they accidentally opened a website page giving detailed instructions to cultivate and weaponize anthrax and don't want to wind up on the FBI watch list :P

Tip: watch for flashing arts. These trigger Soul Voice effects.
Tip 2: After getting the follow ball, you really don't need the minimap on screen anymore
Tip 3: Don't forget to upgrade your arts.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

So, what do you think it's the fastest way to build affinity with a character? I'm trying to boost my affinity with a character to do an affinity quest (3 hearts, way too much) and I feel like it could take a millennium.

Choose the right answer

With Elma usually prefer humble answers

And Lin = smart answers
