VGChartz UK software vs GFK UK software.

Most of the differences aren't all that much. Does GFK track digital or is it all retail? If retail only then there isn't much excuse to have some quite significant differences. Like VGC has Pokemon X/Y at 25 and GFK doesn't have it in the top 40. GFK lists the Sims 4, VGC lists The Sims 3 11 places higher than The Sims 4.

Man, Wii U is lookling very sad. It's officially down year on year this week, however margin for error means it's more or less flat. 3DS is quite substantially up, so that's good news for Nintendo. Wii U MUST get a price cut before the holidays this year.

IMO harmony would be PS4>>Wii U>Xb one. PS4 2:1 vs Xb one+Wii U. Being 2.5:1 is a bit too imbalanced. Sony is in danger of becoming a corporate dick again if they get >2:1 market share.

Samey consoles (content-wise) should not both be ahead of the console that has a very different game library.

I'm still enjoying PS4 uber alles, don't get me wrong. But Wii U doing so badly is a bit :'-(

Everyone really thought Sony was behind and would come out more expensive (not everyone but that was what the majority of rumors were saying).  Unfortunately for MS only the worst rumors came true.  I never thought (for the year they were around before the reveal) that those rumors of MS having DRM and online check ins would be true.  I could not believe E3 2013.  Talk about the single biggest swing in market share in any one day in gaming history (aside from perhaps E3 1994).

Absolutely agree!! I remember when there were was chatter of DRM and M$ fans (and others) were saying there was NO WAY they would do that and there was zero truth to those rumours. I also remember poeple saying the X Box would definitely release first AND be cheaper. This was the majority of talk, and the people making these claims were very sure of their predictions. It's kind of fun now how all of it worked out because it really slapped a lot of people upside the face. Even now with the One cheaper than the PS4, the damage is done. You might be right, that E3 Sony didn't really do anything spectacular... They announced a Price of $399 which was cheaper than most thought... but outside of that Sony just stood back and watched Microsoft implode... A huge starting price, forced Kinect, Always Online, weaker hardware... I'm afraid the damage has been done and it would be hard for Microsoft to make a full recovery (ala the PS3 last gen). I think the One is destined for a distant 2nd place.
