Forums - Gaming - Playstation Plus Game TOWER OF GUNS is Poorly Optimized

GPGPU development is far from main stream yet, especially indie devs probably won't touch it until it's an easy to activate feature in a common multi-plat engine.

In the video it looks like the processing power is not the problem though and it might be some bug the devs didn't catch during beta testing.

I mentioned it in the PS nation thread a day or two ago? But somehow the PS nation is like dead I guess. Anyway it is an issue that not happens whole the time maybe like one time every 5 runs. Their are points in the game when more than 100 turrets pop up and shoot around 800 bullets every few seconds and that is what the PS4 has issues with. I really enjoy the game, just wished it had an upgrade system.

Good programmers iron out these kind of performance kinks before they release their game.

So From Software is not "good programmers"? Bloodborne has a memory leak issue. As did some Bethesda games. Two of the best devs arent good programmers. Glad to know.

I am not pretending to know why the game behaved that way, but you immediately blaming the devs is wrong. You have NO CLUE what is going on in that scenario

From and Bethesda make great games, but neither has a particularly good reputation for performance optimization :p

It's running on unreal engine 3. That engine generally runs badly on PS4 and XB1 so no surprises here.

At least it was free =P

Fark, it takes a special kind of ineptness for that to chug on a PS4.

The freaking PS3 should be able to run that smoothly.

You guys always pretend to understand how games work......... Graphics does not equal requirements to run a game.

It is possible the CPU is what is causing the FPS drop and the PS3 CPU is actually more powerful than the PS4 CPU. Not saying that is what is going on here but do not insult devs when you have no clue how a game works.

No it is not, it benchmarks similar performance it's only about 10% less. But devs were never ever able to actually utalise the CPU power because it was so complicated and Sony only chose it because numbers, the PS4 cpu is far more versatile with 8 physical cores. This game could be ported and optimised and run smoothly on PS3 without a graphic downgrade, that is why this is poorly made.

Every Bethesda game has bugs up the arse.
