Now before I even start this, I want mods to know this article won't be a flame bait piece of s***. I'll just be talking about why its better for the industry and it'll be friendly and will have valid points in them. Anyway lets begin.

So today reviews came in about the watch, and well it was lukewarm. Mostly 7 or 8's, and its just something not really special. Critics praised its design and elegance, but also criticized its poor battery life, slow loading times, and steep learning curve. In a sense, its a phone on your wrist, its something you don't need. This is what is said by reviewers. But I guarentee you, at least in the short term it'll sell well, as Apple's marketing tries to sell this. But eventually, I think consumer will realize its just not needed, and the thing will probably end up on the Apple "Flop" list. But why do I want this to happen? Its in the title, explain to us. I just said it, its not needed. Now yes for fitness it could be a good device, but once again its more expensive as competitors, and as I'm about to explain doesn't have as many feature's. Starting at 349, and having an 18 hour battery life, compared to competitors offering as much as 48 hours, it makes the product inferior to the competition in that sense. And in terms of fitness feature's, its the same or actually missing some stuff compared to the competiton. Now I'm going to compare the Apple Watch to the Microsoft Band. Now the Apple Watch is 349$, while the Microsoft Band is only 200$. Both can do texting and messaging, both have multiple fitness sensor's and apps, but the Microsoft Band has a 48 hour battery life. iOS, Andriod and WP integration, and built in GPS. The apple watch meanwhile only work with iOS, and doesn't have a built in GPS. Now one could argue about the design or luxury aspect, but its going to probably be replaced in a year. Like other Apple products, there's always an annual successor, and I think this will really be a huge handicap for the Apple Watch. So if its released annually, it means it'll be discontinued in a few years. This means this product is pretty much just a regular watch in a few years, only much more expensive then a regular one. And for the first time, I feel Apple doesn't really know if this product will succeed. But that's only the icing on the cake. This product is also very late to the market, in fact its around 2 years. Its a very similar situation with the Phablet market as well, and I feel Apple just waits till someone else does well, then copy the concept and exploit it. If this product fails, I guarentee you consumers will feel that the brand (apple) will have less of an innovation aspect to it, and it'll also damage investor confidence. After this, I feel Apple will really have to start making good products, instead of just copying. I remember back at the conference in March, and the "new Mac". It was in a sense a cash grab by Apple, make it lower spec'd and make people pay for a USB adapter, and charge more than your previous product. Its a slow by surely turn towards a slippery slope. Anyway if this product fails, I feel Apple will have to rethink its statagy, lower its prices, and actually innovate in order to stay competitive, instead of copying products and brainwashing people into buying it with marketing BS. If it can't do this, it deserve's to drop and fail! Apple was once a company that made game changing products and actually made me (a person who heavily criticizes Apple these days) a very happy consumer. But now, it just feels like one "me too" product after an hour. And if it become's irrelevant just like Microsoft nearly did, then it deserve's what it gets!

I have read the first paragraph, but I am afraid that I still have to lock your thread.

Lol for a second there I thought you where a mod...

Massive blocks of text troubling to me at times, but what your saying is that it should flop because Microsoft's is better and cheaper?

Anyways, I actually think it'll be the opposite in what you described as good sales at first but bad overall. I think it won't sell well initially, but sales will improve over a few years when the technology gets better and the watch has more practical use.

If this is not flame bait, why is it burning my eyes?

Let me just repeat the stupid phrase "Competition is good".

No. I was just comparing the two from a fitness stand point, and the Microsoft Band wins. Yes the Apple Watch has a lot of feature's, and I'm now saying you shouldn't buy it. However, I feel it really only appeals to a niche market, and I feel from a sales perspective it'll fail for apple. But lets wait and see.

Whether a product 'wins' or not is always subjetive... :P

But that's what was trying to get at with the niche market idea. Both Apple and Microsoft's watch/band is pretty niche at the moment hence why I think sales will be sluggish initially. Once it establishes well, with better technology, pricing and usefulness, I think that this idea will skyrocket.

The whole Smart watch is a scam. Soon we'll have smart jackets and smart clothing and finally smart underwear. Anyways apple products are no longer the technological revolutionary stuff they used to be. They are now a social status and with the strategy apple are using with their apple watch (I.e that $10,000 watch ) this effect applies more and more.
