Two 3DS game series, Professor Layton and Fantasy Life, be getting sequels on mobile devices.
According to Siliconera, the upcoming Professor Layton mobile game Layton 7was announced yesterday for a Japanese release on mobile phones and devices. Fantasy Life 2 was also revealed as a mobile game with a focus on farm-building.
Level-5, the developer behind both titles, made the announcements during its Level-5 Vision 2015 event. Fantasy Life 2: Two Moons and the Village of God will hit Japanese smart devices this summer, along with Layton 7.
No announcement of 3DS versions of either game came out of the event.
Nintendo, too, will be getting into the business of bringing its intellectual property to mobile platforms. Its recent announcement of a deal with DeNa, a Japanese smartphone developer, is something Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata hopes will bring more fans to the 3DS and Wii U.
Despite some sluggish story pacing in the 3DS Fantasy Life, we gave it an 8.0 in our review. Its addictive class system and quirky sense of humor help make it great. The Professor Layton series has been a mainstay of Nintendo's dual-screen handhelds and has also appeared on iOS and Android devices, as well.
