Level-5 announced Fantasy Life 2 for smartphones during its Level-5 Vision event in Japan today. 

Due out this summer in Japan, players will be able to make their own character and enjoy life in a new “Village,” which you’ll facilitate on behalf of god. Players will be able to view the village from a god-like perspective, as well as walk around it on their own with their allies. Up to four players will be able to play together and participate in activities such as fighting, cutting down trees, and mining.

Pre-registration will begin today. In celebration of the announcement, Fantasy Life: Link! for 3DS will be half-price on the Nintendo eShop in Japan from April 22.

Now My Rant:

Everything about this game just looks terrible. Level 5 literally reskinned Fantasy Life and added a friken clash of clans style gameplay.... It looks terrible and a lot worse than the 3ds version(I thought smartphones were stronger....). It literally is the bane of gaming's existence by making a game with no charm and creativity at all(like most games these days).

(Lost)Bet with kinisking: I say Ps4 will win April NPD while he says Xbox One will win it; winner gets 1 week of avatar control.

Well they sort of did both.

Abanded their core audience on 3ds while expanding on the mobile market....

Well at least we're getting Layton 7... Oooww... Please understand...

No, in all honestly I don't understand either.

*Begin rant*

I get the whole smartphone thing.I get that it's huge in Japan. I get that they make a smartphone Fantasy Life game for that huge audience.
What I don't get is that they call it Fantasy Life 2, Layton 7, Breath of Fire VI (Capcom). This would imply they are going for the same audience, but especially in the West they achieve the exact opposite with stuff like this: they alienate the existing audience...

Is Japan really that different? Will people who have played these games on 3DS (or other dedicated device) really think: 'Of course I will play this watered down version of a game I loved on my phone and pay hundreds of euros in microtransactions for it on mobile?!' really?

Ni No Kuni is a very big JRPG with other 100 monster and with studio ghibli story.
