They're planning a full invasion. Watch it flop though. But if the Japanese like it and it's mentioned in the same breath as Pokemon, it might be a good game.

Time to check up on the competition...

And now to see if this can have mass cross-cultural appeal.

I have my sincere doubts.

The main issue by far is the level of context this game expects you to have in order to see the major appeal of it's charm. It is very heavily tied into Japanese folklore, iirc. While Pokemon of course had its Japanese cultural aspects, it also later drew on other cultures while simultaneously having its own world that it depended on mostly. Also, the character design for some of the creatures is a fair bit more bizarre than what other games bring. So I have my doubts, but we'll see.

I think that they will ''westernize''the content!:P

So by the time 'murica gets the first Yokai Watch Japan will already be playing the third?

Well to be fair we wont get all of them and slowly catch up. They wont give us all 3 versions of YW2, probably just the first 2 but with anything added to the 3rd one like we got with Pokemon back in gen 1

Well yes, but that will be more dificult here.  I mean, Yokai themselves are a part of Japanese folklore and that's a part of the charm for Japanese people.  For the Westerner who has not grown up in that culture, even explaining what Yokai are won't have nearly the same effect.

hahahaha, anime looks interesting.
