I think its great its running at 720p 60fps instead of 1080p 30fps as Splatoon will benefit more from 60fps than 1080p, plus like MK8, the gameplay is quite hectic so I doubt you will constantly recognize the resolution.

I think it would have benefited even more from 1080p/60fps at a lower visual fidelity :p *hides*

Isn't it 1080p? And no AA? Have i missed something?

Read the actual Digital Foundry review. They talk about how it's only 720p with no anti-aliasing and say it's disappointing.

But isn't 720 still pretty good?

Some games still running at 720p resolution on Xbox One so I don't think it's bad though

It seems to me as if you're trying to undermine a good thing here by saying it's not a big deal. If this was a Ratchet & Clank game, would you be saying the same thing? That series isn't particularly demanding. Hardware means little. It all comes down to if a developer wants fluidity of gameplay enough to sacrifice flashy graphics. Multiple games on the GameCube ran at 60fps, even.

Didn't say that. However, frame dips can hamper the enjoyment of a game, yes.

It's pretty hard to properly define how demanding R&C is. On one hand, no, the core game isn't hugely demanding. On the other hand... bolts. So. Many. Bolts. You'd have to significantly downgrade the rest of the game to maintain a solid 60fps when the bolt fairy comes to town (or you could just reduce the number of bolts, but no one wants that :p).

(Just to be clear, i don't disagreeing with the point you're trying to make. Just thought i'd jump in and mention about R&C).

Of course, any game would benefit if it was 1080p/60fps :P

But I doubt they tried to really push the Wii U with this game, as it doesn't really require it, plus It still does look like a pretty game at 720p

I have seen several mid-50s drops in their video though. Some areas have several short drops during the same fight too.

The frame rate is still less stable than for instance COD AW (MP) on consoles that is for instance basically rock solid 60fps on PS4.

Fair point! I'm definitely not trying to knock R&C (I love the series) but it seemed like an apt comparison to make.

Keep in mind that this is an unfinished, not fully optimized build of the game. I'm sure when It releases it will have a rock-solid 60fps.

Yeah, i know you weren't. I just needed an excuse to talk about bolts :D

Those kinds of drops don't really matter. They're so small and brief i'd be surprised if anyone actually noticed them (even then the final game might see them disappear entirely).

You're right about COD:AW's MP though. It was remarkably stable on the PS4.
