I like it but I suck at it. Especially god of war and heavenly sword. They should give you a little more time to hit the button and using the analog just right goes just wrong for me.

I dare anyone to call the knife fight in RE4 an insult to their intelligence without lying to themselves in the process.

I don't want to be watching a cutscene and pressing buttons, I want to be in the scene, controlling my character and participating in the battle.

In a normal cutscene, you aren't controlling the character or participating in the battle at all.   So you actually get more interactivity here than just by watching it.  If you mean you prefer a standard battle, I can accept that and recall that 99% of all battle sin the game took place using the standard combat engine or the specialized boss combat settings.

For those with reflexes that don't handle the game mechanic well, my apologies you had to endure it....but that doesn't make it a bad gameplay mechanic itself.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

I hope we see less of these timed button presses, I hated it in RE4, and they were even worse on the Wii version. Good thing you didn't have to do it that often. God of War uses it way too much though, it's one of the reasons I could never get into the series.

The best use of this option and a game where I actually loved its placement was the mighty SHENMU. Anyone else agree here, the button timing and cut scenes in that game were fun and awesome to watch. I loved that part of the game, it was like a little break from the norm and kind of made me sit up in my seat and get serious after a time of relaxing. I loved the way Sega used it in Shenmu.

I'm not sure if I like them or not. The whole PRESS X OR DIE thing was cool at first in the first few major games to do it (RE4, GoW), but they're starting to get old. =/

It would probably help if they were made more into an integral part of the game, for example by having one button/motion/whatever always be used for escaping from grappling moves. No annoying text would pop up, and it would be more like using the block button, rather than marginally interactive cut scenes.

Soul Calibur 3 was really pissing me of with these....
I mean, I fight all the way to the ending of a character's tale and i end up ruining it because I didn't press TWO BUTTONS! Darnit....not even counting that part when you need to avoid the giant gear and a cage...(and other miniorities)

Resident Evil: UC is the worst because the controls are not as responsive as the ones from RE4. Games like this are frustrating but some can be fun like Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude.

not getting by me

The only game I played with this in was Tomb Raider Legend(?). It sucked and made me feel like the devs thought 'You aren't good enought to do this yourself'. I agree with Itagaki that button mashing feels half-assed.
