but PES was released AFTER the PS3 price drop when the PS3/Xbox360 were closer in price

Now we have GTA4, with some exclusive content for the Xbox360
but the price cut is on the side of the Xbox360, not the PS3.

U also have to look at the REALLY cheap Xbox360 arcade that could allow people to get a "GTA4 player" for only 200$ ...

and, as NJ5 stated, ur are overestimating the impact of BR in Europe.

That is an important factor, but MS will probably have price and the exclusive content on their side, which could also turn out to be pretty important. It's very hard to predict, especially without knowing what MS & Sony will do until launch in terms of marketing (and in Sony's case, whether they do more price cuts which I doubt).

I say all this as a Wii owner too, but I may consider getting a 360 if GTA4 is really good.

I wonder, with GTA4, do any of you think that the $50 million MS paid Take 2 included exclusive advertising rights?

If it did Sony are stuffed in April next month.  Doubt it though.  Rockstar might advertise the console with only an Xbox 360 symbol at the bottom.  But they arn't going to say NO if Sony says "here's ten million in advertising money."  At best they'd force Sony to also put Xbox 360 at the end of their ads next to Playstation 3.

Probably just an error, since we saw similar prices in other websites (including the Swedish shop).

I hope this REALLY slows PS3 sales in Europe for a while, and Sony cuts the price to 299€ so that even I can afford one. ;D

Yeah. It'd be awesome if Sony got massively PAWNED in others for a few months. That'd force a nice big Australian price cut, making it that much more affordable when I decide to get one. PLEASE give me a b/c model to pick though. I'll even pay more.

 I don't know, $50 million is ALOT of money, even for exclusive content, and I can't see MS parting with that much cash without some kind of provision where they get to advertise GTA4 exclusively. Sort of like the Assassins Creed PS3 ads.

I believe It will not SLOW console sale,
it will boost Xbox360 sales during 1 month
and then counter the potential boost on the PS3 du to GTA4.
