The problem in PAL is the GT5 prologue bundle ...
There is no Halo or Bioshock on the Xbox360 side and it is still a bit early to see any effect of GTA4. When u make a price drop, u always should to add a value to make people understand ur console is The Greater.

PS3 2007 : Xmas ?
Xbox360 2008 : ???

I don't think the prologue bundle will do that well. People are careful with money and as such will think twice about buying a game + console when in 12 months you have to pay again for the same game with more content. I might be wrong but thats how I would see the situation.

thats why i think bundling was a smart move. you get a highly recognizable franchise extended demo "for free" with the ps3. and then you can get the full game a year later.

Hopefully for Microsoft, this price cut will result in at least these three things (in increasing order of importance):
1- A nice peak in sales (say 50-70%) for a few weeks
2- Improving the regular sales level to 20-40% more than it is at now.
3- Stealing more sales from PS3's GTAIV launch than it would have without the price cut.
The first two are quantifiable, the last one may be harder to see but is IMO the most important of them all for the console war.

Thats absolutely right. The people that decide to abandon Sony and go to Microsoft for GTAIV are also deciding NOT to NEED the old PS2 exclusives (FF, MGS, GT) and therefore they will try MS exclusives. It also helps set MS up for their classic, third time lucky move! If you play no Sony exclusives for 5 years but do play MS ones, which console are you going to lean too next gen?
The difference is, Sony won't have the money (MS) or innovation (Nin) to buy back their 'loyal' fans......
