Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo: E3 will focus on games launching in 2015 - Wii U's last year as focus?

This is what everyone should do tbh. Not coming this year? Then don't bother..focus on closer games instead of far-off ones.

"As Mr. Aonuma announced, The Legend of Zelda game for Wii U is no longer targeted as a 2015 release. Rather than sticking to a specific schedule, the team wants to make this the most complete and the best game it can possibly be. The new launch timing has not yet been determined. Because we’d like to focus on developing the game, we aren’t planning on showing it at this year’s E3, where we will be highlighting games launching in 2015. We will let you know when we’re ready to share more specifics."

Little focus on 2016 makes it seem like there isn't much left coming for the Wii U.

If only more major AAA publishers took this approach. Perhaps Mr. Miyamoto came along and upended the teatable again?

Also, he never said there wouldn't be any 2016 games. He just said they're highlighting the 2015 releases, most likely meaning that they'll be the main focus of the show, but not the only games. Chances are we'll probably at least see trailers for upcoming 2016 games, but not too many playable demos. Besides, they're most likely going to be making announcement about other games that we don't know about yet.

Hopefully, E3's focus will be on 2015 Wii U games, like a localized Xenoblade Chronicles X, Starfox (which I will pray lives up to Star Fox 64 and not be the experimental game based only off the Gamepad motion control I feel Miyamoto keeps making it sound like), Splatoon and maybe some surprise smaller release like Captain Toad.

Also, I am hoping they hype the heck out of the new 3DS Fire Emblem there as well, imagine if you will a year where you get a enhanced ports of Majora's Mask, Devil Survivor 2, a decent port of Xenoblade, localized Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Etrian Odyssey Untold 2 and a new Fire Emblem all in the same year and this just on the 3DS... RPG gamer's heaven.

The fact that they have shown xenoblade chronicles x in 2013, 2014 and probably 2015 almost proves that they have very few games in developement.

Well at least they can't possibly show something that will be delayed until 2016 again.

But not showing any 2016 title is really interesting.

Edit: Woops they said they will highlight 2015 games. So I guess very few 2016 games will be shown?

Lol people jumping to conclusions again.

Well I would hope they would focus on games releasing this year. Key word: focus. It's very likely that 20 minutes of their digital event will be 2015 games and then the remainder will be teasers/trailers of upcoming games. That would still constitute as focusing on 2015 as 2/3 of their stream is 2015.

Anyways, they still have a lot of titles releasing this year outside of Zelda, so it would make sense. And they still have their directs so it's not like they can't reveal 2016 games via that method.

"this year’s E3, where we will be highlighting games launching in 2015"

What's stopping them from highlighting 2015 games AND announcing 2016 games?

People should really stop jumping to conclusions... No where does it say that they wont be showing any games for 2016... This continues to fit with my theory that the nx will be a handheld because they will be showing off a few more games for the wiiu this e3 for 2016 which will be releasing next year and it will keep the console people happy while releasing the NX handheld to make the handheld people happy. Next year should be wiius last year in terms of games and then in 2017, their console will be shown and will either launch in holiday 2017 or spring 2018

It is their typical "let the game releases die down strategy" that they do almost every gen.
