Wow, it looks like fundraising is the solution we were looking for to have again games not only high quality, but also very tough, without the risk of low sales sinking their devs.

From what Ive played of it so far.... so good :)

A game worthy of the BG legacy, even if its just a spiritual successor.
And yes this game proves growd funding games can be good.

Sad Panda found out theres a bug that if you equipt a item by ways of double clicking on it, you lose your characters racial abilities (amoung other things).

You need to carefully drag & drop a item into the right slot, after haveing removed the previous one, to avoid this bug.

OR wait for a patch.

So im waiting for the patch before I play this anymore.

Guys lets use this thread to talk character builds :)

My first character:

Race: Moon Godlike
Class: Paladin
Order (paladin type): Kind Wayfarers

Concept:
1) once pr encounter @75%,50%,25% endurace, get a 25% endurance heal from Moon godlike passive.
2) Kind Wayfarers (picked for trait access) = Strange Mercy (defeats an opponent = gain Endurance.)

So the idea was to have a high damage output, by use of a 2handed weapon (greatsword) and then semi tank, by ways of your passive heal (when you take dmg), and from killing monsters(which would also heal you).

So you absorb tank (via self healing), instead of relying on insane deflection, or a gigant health pool and a cleric that heals you.

I ended up with stats like these:

str = 18
con = 15
dex = 20
per = 4
int = 4
res = 18

I belive that comes out to:
+1 deflection, +4 will,+6 reflex, +16 fortitude, +24% dmg, +30% action speed.

The aoe range on Moongodlike passive is crazy big (like 20m or something) so low int doesnt matter.
Low perception hurts deflection abit, but you raise resolve instead, to counter that, and in turn gain good will (needed if you lower your int). This also has the added benefit of giving really good concentration (so you dont get your attacks interrupted, and have to restart a attack animation = important if your useing a big 2hander).

The reason I went for 15con is because without it, my health/endurance would be too low to gain the full benefit of the godlike moon passive heal.

Id love to hear anyone else's idea of their first character builds in Pillars of Eternity.

Ouch! Bizarre bug. Luckily for me when I buy a game normally it's already been carefully debugged, and even if I buy one earlier than usual, like I did with the Witcher 1 and 2, when they reach the top of my backlog, very complete patches are surely already available.
When I'll buy it, I'll do it on GOG, I prefer a DRM-free version, removing a possible source of nasty bugs. If they'll make a DRM-free disc version even better, but a GOG version is already good enough for me, and their stuff already allowed me to play old games that I had on disc, but that old, ill-behaved and never updated DRMs had made unplayable on more recent versions of Windows.

@Alby Da Wolf

Since alot of people where saying this was gamebreaking, people brought it up to the developers.
Turns out they where aware of it already, and it ll be fixed in the next patch.

This is great! They're very reactive and sudden success has not made them arrogant or lazy, but willing to live up to what they have achieved. Not that we could expect anything less from such great game devs.    But thinking about it again, there are also some great devs that have anyway the habit to let their fans wait for things ages... *cough* Molyneux... *cough*...

Worst bugs i have run into have been the disappearing ranger pet bug and another bug where you cannot select characters/draw a selection box during combat.Hopefully both fixed in the latest patch.

I've just cleared Raedrics hold on hard, final battle was easy there no casualties, had much more trouble with the ogres in level 3 od nua.
