Which Zelda game will age the best?

The original Zelda. 9 3.50%

A Link to the Past/ A Link between Worlds. 64 24.90%

Ocarina of Time/ MAjora's Mask. 36 14.01%

The Wind Waker. 100 38.91%

Twiglight Princess. 18 7.00%

Skyward Sword. 18 7.00%

The GB/GBA ones. 4 1.56%

The DS ones. 1 0.39%

The CD-i ones. 6 2.33%

Total:256

The Zelda franchise is usually considered one of the strongest in gaming. But time afects everything, and videogames are notexception. Taking into account everything, from story, to graphics, overworld, gameplay mechanics... Which Zelda will keep bein as good tomorrow as it was the day of its release? Which one will show its age sooner?

My top 3 on both categories are:

Best aged Zelda

-3. The original. Nothing like the original to start a list. Its graphics and NES dificulty will confuse or frustrate younger gamers, but there's no doubt it plays just as well today as it did in the NES era.

-2. The 64 twins (OoT and MM). This games are considered the best in the series. They are so good that the only thing Nintendo touched in the re-releases were little things (graphics, making some dungeons easier...).

-1. WindWaker. The people who critisized its cartoony graphics didn't take into account its effectiveness through time. This game plays just as well no as it did in the past. Sometimes I can't distinguish the original GC one with the WiiU one.

Worst aged Zelda.

-3. Twiglight Princess. In my opinion, Zelda games shouldn't try realism. The fact this game is trying to be as realistic as possible after the WW backlash will make this one the perfect subject of remaster/remake in the future.

-2. Zelda 2. The adventure of Link. The fact that this one is way different than any other Zelda game will make this one the most skipped in the seres.

-1. Skyward Sword. Its overreliance on motion controlls will make this one very dificult to re-release without altering its main gameplay mechanic. I like the graphics and the story, but those controlls just kill any faithful re-release.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I'm in agreement with your opinion

Zelda 1 has aged the worst of all. It's bogged down with archaic systems that artificially lengthen the play time, and that horrible decision to have a 'low health' sound effect interrupt the music by actually taking up one of the five audio channels. What a nightmare.

I think all Zeldas aged pretty well, curently playing Ocarina Of Time GC version (via Nintendont on Wii U) on LDC TV and look and play very good, before that I played Zelda 1, Zelda II and ALTP, all looks good but Zelda I and II are pretty hard for todays standards even with save option.

But I think games like Wind Waker (especially Wind Waker HD), Skyward Sword, Zelda OOT/MM, ALTP and looks for now Zelda U will age best, games like Zelda 1, Zelda II (too hard), DS Zeldas and Twilight Princess (because of graphic, but that will change remake on next gen), not so good.

To be fair, all Zelda games have that anoying sound-effect. And the elements that lengthen the game make it, in my opinion, actually keep it better. If they weren't there, the game would last an hour, and that would make it too short to be remembered.

Even when Wind Waker is the weakest 3D Zelda, it has great combat mechanism and art style.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Dead @ Twiglight.

I say A Link to the Past.

Easy question. The first one will age the worst because it's the oldest and zelda U will age the best because it's the newest. No need to thank me i just used simple logic.

I think windwaker has aged the best, that or a Link to the past.

Zelda 2 obviously the worst, but I think OOT is pretty close to it too.
