Forums - Microsoft - A small bit of Phantom Dust gif footage shows up and...

It looks really underwhelming. I can see why the studio might have closed down. Microsoft needs to stop depending on outside developers who they have no clue as to their pedigree. They need to either give it to people who are known for these games or make an all star studio. This doesn't even look like a proper action JRPG and the physics is just mediocre.

I don't think its really fair to make a judgement call based on this, a lot of that scenery looks like placeholder mesh, just simple meshes with basic texture applied, most like from a stage where they were focusing on mechanic and particle effects rather than fine tuning the world.

Even with the focus not being on environments the destructive scenery is nice, too.

It looks in keeping with the original Phantom Dust for the Xbox to me, I'm not sure what exactly you thought it was going to be.

Looks like they retained the original game formula in this one.

Last I heard it was a card game.

They will put some creative spin in this version to appeal gamers.

I'm guessing this is their early alpha concept ...

Low and behold, it looks like they kept the original gameplay mechanics ...

Not impressed!

Its a pseudo-card based action/strategy game.

This is how the original played.

Hopefully the other outside developer Microsoft chooses to develop it will. The last teams studio closed down. Im sure it was the same case like Bizarre studios. Its no the first time a studio had to shut down while working with Microsoft.

Kinda but the cards are obtained thoughout the game to increase your arsenal of skills ...

The game's combat is centered around both action and strategy ...

I missed it when I had the original Xbox. I was pretty busy with the Bioware games and Ninja Gaiden. It was probably one of those really underrated games that most people didn't know about.
