Forums - Nintendo - Will 2015 E3 be the last Wii U-focused E3 for Nintendo?

Yeah announcements wise I think so, the games they show this year will most likely not all come out this year and I expect 2016 to be the last major year for Wii U.

I think so. I really don't see Nintendo coming up with much of a lineup for Wii U after 2015. 2016 will be their "limp to a new console" year, like 2001, 2006, and 2012.

More to the point, it's not worth it for Nintendo to put good money after bad. 4 years will be a fine timeline for a console that sold as poorly as the Wii U. 4 years were all Xbox got, after all, and few people cried foul.

What Mr Khan said. I wouldn't mind if NX comes soon if it have a great promising future. Also, I keep my prediction that they wll announce and release the same year, so early 2016 announcement with a holiday 2016 release date. There's no point in announcing 2 years before release and they won't miss again the holiday season to launch new hardware.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

i really think people are jumping on this whole NX thing waaaaay too early. people are acting as if they formally announced the next console and all that, they just announced that its in development (which should not come as a surprise to anybody) and in the prototype stage.

Wii U has two or three years left at the least.

Maybe. I think e3 2016 will mainly be about the handheld nx with some wiiu games and e3 2017 will announce its successor

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

It has amazed me that when Iwata said "dedicated gaming platform" the media jumped in and claimed it was the Wii U successor.

I think NX will either be:
1) Next handheld
2) A fusion console
3) Something completely new

I don't think we'll see a new dedicated home console before a new handheld.

i completly doubt that we will see a new nintendo home console soon.

Just ask yourself, whats wrong with the wii u?

Is it only the "low" power? Definitly not, scince many many games in 2013, 2014 and still 2015 gets releases for Ps3 and Xbox 360 which are both much weaker as the wii u. 150 vs 400 Gflops. 500 vs 2000 mb ram. OFO vs IO CPUs.

The Wii Us Hardware is definitly not Nintendos problem at the moment. A new super powerfull device will still sell as bad as the wii U.

Here are the main fails for the Wii U:

- Bad Reputation to be a casual console for kids, who actual play on smartphones
- Hardcore Gamers are not interested in the Wii U, scince several reasons:

- Well, low power could be one reason. But not the main reason. keep in mind, the ps3 still sell about as good per month as the wii u and is weaker

- Now Third Party Support

- People played on Xbox/PS for years and got many friends on Xbox live or PSN. They will not switch the console, they will stay at their friends.

A new powerfull Wii u will change nothing. It will sell bad again. If they would release a powerfull system in 2016, it wont make ps4 and xbox one owner to switch, scince they got just a new system.

People get consoles, because they want to use them for 5-6 years and are not forced to upgrade and co. otherwhise people get pcs.

A new powerfull Nintendo console in 2016 will fail. People still will get Ps4/xbox - where there friends are at.

Also, even if nintendo bring a new system; Third Party wouldnt support the system till it gets a huge install base.

But it mostly cant get a huge install base without third party support.

Just check the Wii U´s year 2013. 2013 wii u was the most powerfull system, still none third party support. Still bad sales.

Im not sure if Nintendo will ever release a real powerhouse of a console. Maybe Wii U will be the last real home console and they try new things (NX).

Im sure Wii U will still be supported for several years.

Nintendo wont bring a new system till they fixed the problems i mentioned above.

Probably, but we will get more new Wii U games in 2016.

Probably not....

Even if the NX is released in 2016, they'd still probably announce some things for the Wii U for E3 2016

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

Maybe.

I'm in the camp of those who think the NX is only the substitute of the 3DS and not both the 3DS and Wii U, so I think Nintendo will still talk about WiiU and show new games for it in E3 2016.

However, given that E3 2016 will be where they reveal that new console, it's logical to think that they will use most of their time to show it and hype the hell out of it. And since it's possible that they announce the Wii U successor at E3 2017, you could say that E3 2015 will be indeed the last Wii U focused E3.
