Forums - Microsoft - Windows 10 Launches this summer

http://www.engadget.com/2015/03/17/windows-10-launches-this-summer-in-190-countries/

Microsoft's leaner, meaner, latest iteration of Windows is coming in just a few months, and it's launching in 170 countries, in 111 languages. Don't forget: Windows 10 is a free upgrade if you're already using Windows 7 or 8. Hiding in its imposing shadow, and launching at the same time, the company will release special free version of its OS for Internet of Things devices, which Microsoft's Terry Myerson reckons could well find its way into ATMs and ultrasound machines. Curiously, anyone that has a Xiaomi Mi 4 will also able to download the preview of Windows 10 ahead of it's release -- despite it being an Android phone.

Free upgrade, I'm there. Can't stand windows 8. Been using Linux(Zorin OS) for a while. Hopefully this one's actually decent.

Still on Windows 7 but I'll be upgrading to 10 when it comes out!

Free upgrade is the best thing Microsoft could have done, not just from a consumer standpoint.

Hype!

Awesome, will definitely be upgrading on both my dekstop and laptop when it comes out.

I still don't understand what's so awful about Windows 8, but it looks like Windows 10 will run faster, which is all I really care about. And it's free! (not that I agree with giving free versions to pirates)

I basically only use Chrome, Steam, Origin, Star Citizen, Word and Excel. All can be easily started using auto-filling searches in Win 8, as can any other program I want to use

Direct X 12 is probably the most exciting thing

I have windows 7 still, and i'll only update to 10, if i can turn most of the stuff off, and make it more like Windows 7 is. The Windows history shows that damn near Oonly every other Windows released is good. 7 was the last good one, imo, so hopefully 10 will be as well.

The price of free is something I can't really pass up, that and it looks and will run faster than 8 without being a grid clutter to boot.

Can't wait to see DX12 though, I'll probably upgrade sometime during the summer.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

You do realise you can use Windows 8 exactly like 7, just with a different start menu?

Since 8.1, most real computers will boot straight to the desktop

Woot! Nice.
Can't wait.
