Forums - Gaming - What if remote play for Nintendo games exists on smart devices? And can it increase their hardware sales?

Imagine playing the new generation of Pokemon/Animal Crossing games without having to carry your next gen Nintendo portable all the time! With cloud data or even basic memory transfer, the new Nintendo portable could store your games save file and let it transfer to your smart devices*. This will be extremely convenient for gamers who lack the space or desire to carry the portable outside of their house. Plus, being able to play your games on your smart device allows you to easily resume your game at almost any time of time as long as your smart phone is in your pocket.

Having these games on your smart phones can be a great marketing tool as well. Even if people need to buy the Nintendo portable game first, people will start to notice when a bunch of their friends or peers gather around with their phones/tablets to trade and battle their Pokemon or visit other animal villages! These people may get interested in what their friends are playing, try out the game, enjoy it, and decide to buy their own system and game to also play it on their smart devices! Plus, people can easily take and send  photos of their Nintendo app game to their friends! In game screen shots on the cool legendary Pokemon they caught or the the cute animals in their Animal Crossing town on their phones/devices will flood Snapchat/Instagram/Facebook/Twitter/Imgur/etc making more people exposed to Nintendo games more frequently than before.

Of couse not all Nintendo games will transition well to touch screen controls but games like Pokemon and Animal Crossing could still be accessible and fun as well as other RPG!s (Paper Mario/Mario&Luigi with touch based action commands?)

What do you think? Should Nintendo think about letting some of their games be remotely played on smart devices?

*It has not been confirmed that the next Nintendo portable allows this.

It could be a good idea but idk how good the experience will be considering its a touchscreen

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

It would mean setting up a server network to support it, something they dont really have at current.

Cross-plat always have a lot of technical issues so as interesting as this may sound, it would probably come with a lot of bugs. Though this may boost hardware sales, I doubt it would by any significant amount..

As someone living in Japan with DeNA games on my phone.

No, not at all.

I`m not really fond of that idea... I don`t have an issue carrying my 3DS with me at all. It fits easy in my other pockets and I`m not a big fan of smartphone games or controls at all. I won`t bat an eye if these games can be played on them along with smartphone devices, but I would prefer to play on a handheld, thanks...

Not happening. Nintendo would have to do a lot of unnecessary programming for a feature that would be simpler to accomplish on their home console, where there are, you know, buttons.

Yeah I dont know why I would want to use a touchscreen for a game it doesnt suit. Pokemon, AC, FE etc would all be fine but for games like Smash, SMB, MonHun I would need something like this
