i think all these different studios are excellent developers, but it really depends on how ambitious and how much freedom they have that will reflect how great the game will end up at the finish line

.....Uncharted is not a platformer. It's a 3rd Person Action Adventure. Just because it has platforming elements doesn't make it a platformer. You wouldn't here people saying, "What genre is Uncharted?" "Platformer".

"There is only one race, the pathetic begging race"
Has Platinum made anything that isn't a character action game? I know From Software at least made 3D Dot Heroes as an example of breaking type.
| Hynad said: concentrate on and become expert Nintendo doesn't concentrate on platformers. They make, and have always made a variey of game types. And they've been mostly stellar in all of them. |
So you don't think someone can concentrate on something while doing something else? That's quite black and white, don't you think? Can I not concentrate on college while having a part time job? Can I not concentrate on playing a video game while listening to music?
Like I said, Nintendo has made more platformers than any other genre. It's their go-to genre in every way. Hell, many people complain that there's too many platformers on Nintendo consoles.
And it's not that you disagree, but rather you did so in an extremely condescending and rude manner.
In the end, this thread was just meant to be a positive look at some amazing developers that work really well in particular genres. It's a shame that it's devolved into nitpicking and sweeping generalizations. Should've expected as much.

They made an RPG once on the DS.
from mario, to metroid, to zelda.... 3 genre-defining games.

It is a platformer. Platforming is imbeded into the core mechanics of the franchise. Just because you're not jumping on goombas doesn't mean it's not a platformer. You know all that parkouring Nathan Drake is renowned for? That's called platforming. It doesn't stop being platforming just because he gas a gun and stubble.
Out of that list it has to be Atlus since they can't seem to release anything other than RPGs these days ...

It's a 3rd person action platformer.
That's like saying "just because it has shooter elements doesn't make it a shooter." Yes, it does. They aren't minor element. They are major, integral parts of the way the levels are designed. All of those "set pieces" are usually just platforming levels.
And that's not even negotiable. Nearly every authority on the matter clasifies the game as a platformer. Saying that Uncharted isn't a platformer is like saying that Assassin's Creed and Mirror's edge aren't platformers.
