PS4 is also 100x more powerful, a full media player, and has all the mega selling AAA western titles plus the fact that the home console market is and always has been bigger than the handheld market in America.

Ps4 also outsold the 3ds in Japan

January+February sales in Japan

3DS-500k, PS4 -200K

Look at the thread. Did you bothered to read it? Nobody is saying 3ds is doing bad.

Never pointed as to this thread. If you understood a user you would immediately understand what im talking about (but i assumed you would get it, my bad).

Same goes for you Kerotan(meaning not knowing what im talking about

I'm sorry but you don't know what I'm talking about.  This thread was no made because the new 3DS pushed it over the ps4 in February.  It was made because despite that major release the ps4 is still on top for the year and will be after March.  We are on a sales site and this is a very significant moment in this generation. Last gen it was unthinkable for the ps3 to pull off something similar.

HHS aren't dead but they are dying. I fully expect the next Nintendo HH to sell even less than the 3DS.

Declining =/= Dying. Do you consider Gran Turismo dying? Didnt think so.

Not sure why this is being brought up but the HH market is being taken over by mobile.  Expect a big decline for the 3DS successor.  That's not even a bold prediction anymore. Just the way the market has gone.

But I heard we shouldn't compare consoles with handhelds?

Best comment yet.  Last gen it was unfair to compare handhelds to consoles.  Now its unfair to compare consoles to handhelds.

The decline to be as big? are you sure and besides HHs were suppose to die this gen but 2 are still standing strong despite the odds. Vita makes hefty profit despite the small user base and 3DS sold 50mil+ in less than 4 years. In japan 3DS is at 18mil, something no other console/HH will get close to this gen (and that 18mil fgure will be over 20mil end of the year with more potential growth!)

Yeah last gen there were 230m handhelds this gen we will be lucky to have 80m.

You can minus 15m for next gen already because sony is finito,  plus I'll guess another 20-30m from the next Nintendo handheld.  I'll be surprised if their Next HH even breaks 50m. The grip tablets and smartphones have is unstoppable.  Japan is the only saving grace.

So you expect This gen to be about 80mil (both HH) and Next gen to only have the next nintendo HH and that will hit between 30mil-40mil?

Even if next HH sold 30mil-40mil, arent you forgetting the Software behind it? Anywayz 30mil+ is still good for a HH and not dead at all. Especially when the Software is actually pretty good without there being that many games.

It looks bad but thats only in comparison to Nintendo HHs + PSP. Consoles survived on 20mil-40mil before :)

Comparing Handled and console in terms of market share is like comparing a Goliath (3DS) with David (PS4), no matter how hard console trying to compete it will be difficult, because people will choose handled more then console (due to it's price, portability, etc) , but this year is a weird year, is like watching David defeating Goliath.

But 3DS is done great no matter how we look at, but what is even great is PS4.

I'm not sure what ur talking about, the home console market has always been bigger than the handheld market in America

Handheld sales gen 4-7, 165 million

Console sales gen 4-7, 290 million

if you want to  compared " handled"  and "consoles" not just PS4 and 3DS u should include    casual gadget like smarth phones, tablet, and phablet.

God how things have changed.  30-40m would signal the end.  Bye bye investors and software sales would be even lower.

The age of the HH is over.  It had a great run.

Might as well add in PC too?
