Forums - Gaming - About tomb raider deal

With delay of Uncharted 4 Xbox One is the undisputed champion of exclusives this holiday season. There is no doubt about it. Microsoft wanted to hit hard Sony's Uncharted 4 with tomb raider exclusivity. Yes. Its an overkill and its great. But it seems Microsoft should have announced the exclusivity deal later (if they could see future ). Why? Because their own first party exclsuvies are more than enough.

Now we know for PS4 exclusives dont matter. It will keep selling at a great pace. The term "system seller" came to in use when halo 2 was selling like hotcake in the original Xbox despite being far behind in console sales. Third party develoeprs have always loved playstation. Microsoft has spent a lot of cash with titanfall free giveway to latest 2014 holiday deals. Its great for customers. But my point is about profitability and sales number and tomb raider deal. Right now this deal seems kinda meaningless and if Square Enix was thinking to release other versions at spring 2016 then they have shot themselves in the foot.

PS: Please. I just want to know about what you think? Dont derail.

I'm still interested in more exclusives for PS4 this year. Ratchet, Until Dawn, and already the Order which I loved. Not to mention digital stuff. What does Xbox have Halo 5, Forza (cancelled out by Sony's yearly franchise MLB), and Quantum Break maybe? Scalebound and Crackdown are most likely 2016. So looks pretty even this holiday. Can't wait for Ratchet and Zelda on my Christmas list :)

Dying Light is not an exclusive.

And by Dying Light I of course meant Until Dawn lol

Uncharted and Tomb Raider can both come out in Spring, just give a month or so between releases and I don't think they will significantly affect each others sales.

This will increase Tomb Raider sales which is good for both MSFT and SE.

Now Microsoft might want to delay the release of Tom Raider for Spring 2016 too, you don't want to release one exclusive in the same period you are releasing Halo 5 and Forza.

uhhh what? Do you have the wrong signature dude? Because your post contradicts man.

To me, Persona 5 is AAAA, and bigger than Tomb Raider. So no, even if Uncharted 4 is delayed to 2016, I believe in Sony and that they will have some Persona5 and most likely unannounced title (cough Santa Monica) coming for holiday 2015.

Let me refresh your memory: Little Big Planet 3, announced at E3 2014, released Dec 2014. So anything's possible.

i mean we'll see. sony announced LBP3 at E3 last year so i expect something. we know a few other titles don't have release date yet like R&C. hell, we still don't really know if tomb raider or halo will actually release this holiday,.. seems like almost no games can hit their targets these days.

but yeah,.. all signs point to xbox having a better holiday line-up. but bloodborne is almost here so i hardly care. will be 8 months before i need another game anyways.

MS wins holiday games lineup easily now. Sure, PS4 will still sell powered by multiplats, but people with no preference not hung up on small resolution differences will surely have more motive to pick up XOne along with three AAA blockbusters this fall.
Sony needs to invent a AAA game quickly, or the October-December NPDs will be a bloodbath (PS4 will win WW, of course).

As for TR, sure, in hindsight MS could have saved some money, and Square Enix could have cleaned up nicely with a holiday PS4 version. But, Tomb Raider will still sell decently, only now I expect a PS4 version in September 2016.
