Forums - General - How will the Middle East view a female President?

I PERSONALLY DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH A FEMALE PRESIDENT SO DON'T FLAME ME!!!

(although, I don't like Hilary Clinton)

How do you think the Middle East will view the US if it elects a female President? Many Middle Eastern countries view women as weak and would be disgusted by the idea of a woman leading a country. As all know, women are often expected to defer to the men, cover their faces, be submissive, stay out of important issues, etc in Middle Eastern Countries--they are treated abusively and are inferior to men. I disagree with this viewpoint (even though I don't care for Hilary Clinton at all)....but how will relations between the US & Middle East improve if they have no "true" respect for our nations leadership? Will they put on a false face? Will they openly ridicule? Can we hope to accomplish ANY type of peace?

Not meant to be offensive at all, just a genuine question? Your thoughts?

I don't think you even need to ask this since we will not have a female president for a long, long time.

In pakistan they had Benizir bhuto
Canada, Britian and ,many other nations already had female leaders.
Isn't the question how americans will react with a female president.

Eh, I don't think it'd matter. There have been many female leaders of countries. Including some important ones.

I'm coming more from the standpoint of trying to repair shitty relationships. Will they even give us a chance or laugh in our faces? With the bad relations we already have, will we be able to genuinely repair relatiions or will it be a subtle mockery or an outright mockery?

I understand though, we would not be the first country with a female leader, but we're in a unique position...I'm just wondering how Iran, etc. would deal with Hilary if she were Presidient. I don't know, but I'm curious.

Obama is more likely to win than Clinton. Considering Obama has a Islamic name and all I doubt they will care :) Also, Clinton hinted that she wants Obama as the VP if she wins.

I wish I could ask the question how the Middle East will react to a Ron Paul President...

the person who got shot in the head on video but the government claimed (even with overwhelming evidence) that she hit her head on the window and died from that?

I don't know if you would call that 'respect' *shrugs*
