I don't know. I recently bought Shin Megami Tensei IV after watching the beginning of a lets play, just to get a better picture of how the game plays (I'm loving it so far :) )

So I guess it depends if the people stop watching the game because they want to play it themselves, or if they just want to soak in the story and don't buy the game.
We'd need statistics to say if there are more people who buy a game after watching a lets play, or more people who don't buy it because they've seen it all in a lets play.

If they got rid of that stupid policy then yeah it could definitely help.

I don't believe that has never been the case. Ever since they've allowed videos of Nintendo games they have always allowed for specific videos to be registered. Even if that has not in the past, I can tell you for a fact it is an option now.

Okay, first things first. Will let's plays of Xenoblade push people to buy Xenoblade Chronicles X? Yes, it absolutely has the potential to. It's hands down one of the greatest JRPGs of all time. There is very few and far in between people who have actually played it that will argue that fact. Honestly, I think Shulks inclusion in Smash is also a big push to get people interested in the series.

Will let's plays won't hurt it, Nintendo will shut those videos down.

If some big youtubers play it then it will for sure boost the game. How much depends on how good it is. A lot of the views will be from people who don't own a wii u so it's harder to get them to buy it as they need to by the console first.

This would only work with niche titles, or games with limited stock, since there's not much exposure for those games. In the case of the Xenoblade franchise, sure, not by too much, but yeah it helped. There other cases as Kid Icarus (Chuggaaconroy again) and MH (ProJared), but the sales caused by the LP/reviews are too low to even be notable. Soooo... There's a boost, but not worth noting.



Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Seriously though, I'd put it with FF VI, VII, Lunar The Silver Star, Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, Tales Of Symphonia, and Suikoden II, III. (The greatest of the greats I've personally played.) Though I do say it all the time, lol. :)

That would be 9 of my top 10.

I was talking about the Wii game, not the upcoming Wii U game, and what was written could be talking about either. I was assuming what your response was refering to was an answer to the OP (which would be asking if Xenoblade Chronicles Let's Plays will help Xenoblade Chronicles X sales). Xenoblade Chronicles is one of the greatest jrpgs of all time IMO.
