The manga sucks. The anime is a better adaptation. Almost all the people who played the VN hated it.
I didn't even bother reading it.

I Haven't watched a new anime series in a long time.
Even though I started a recommendation thread, SSBB took all my free time...
Edit 2: Let me give you the summary of the opening of FSN Unlimited Blade works.
(Disclaimer: My summary may not be 100% accurate)
Well the story starts If Shiro uses a commad spell to stop Saber from attacking Rin.
Since Shiro didn't attack Rin, Rin didn't have to use a command spell to let Archer escape.
Also Archer wasn't injured so he came along to the Church.
After church, Ilya and Hercules(Berserker) arrives.
Since its Archer and Saber against Berserker, Ilya had to back away with her injured servant.
Going home they were attacked by Caster because Berserker was injured, Caster needed Sabers excalibur to finish him off. Also Caster wasn't scared to leave her mansion anymore since Berserker wasn't much of a threat because he got owned. Since Caster's noble Phantasm breaks contracts, she broke sabers contract away from Shirou. When Caster tried to steal Saber, Archer intervened and he's contract was also broken.
Well Archer beats Caster and suddenly betrays Rin since he was no longer binded by the contract and he got his memory back. He declares He wants to kill Shirou. Rin took Saber as her new servant by using her command spell, since Shirou sucks as a master. They were able to fend archer off, since rin can actually supply mana.
Well feeling desperate they wanted to ask for Ilya's help, but when they got to her mansion, they saw Gilgamesh Ripping out Ilya's heart, since he needed it to make the Holy grail, after finishing off the injured Berserker with his rain of noble phantasms.
And the story goes on.
Unlimited Blade Works covers mostly upon Archers story.

I said that it may not be that accurate, because I spoiled myself on UBW.
I just read summaries.
I haven't reached that part of the story yet.
I'm actually trying to forget all that stuff.
So if anyone who follows the story find's a fault please don't bother correcting my misconceptions.
