Forums - Gaming - SNES vs Sega Genesis

What says you?

SNES! Now you're playing with power! 113 70.63%

Genesis does what Nintendon't! 47 29.38%

Total:160

I pick Genesis, because its the system that my brothers and I enjoyed playing multiplayer the most (sports, fighting games etc).

Library wise, SNES wins no contest. It's just that from where I am, Genesis games are cheaper, so our parents prefers to buy Genesis games rather than SNES games, unless on our birthdays where we get to choose games on whatever system we want.

I'm pretty sure by the time Sega's next console launched, the Gensis was winning in the US. It lost WW though.

yes but the genesis came out 2 years earlier and the saturn came out 1 year 4 months earlier than N64 so cutting the comparison off at the launch of the saturn makes no sense.  SNES still thrived for quite a while after Genesis died off.  Sega stopped production in 1996 of the genesis while the SNES was still selling very well.

I understand and you're right but I just meant that while the two were at their peaks, during the height of the war, the Genesis was the top selling console. It really wasn't after Sega shifted focus and launched their new console that the SNES pulled ahead.

I guess it's semantics but, when a new gen launches, I consider the current gen over.

SNES all the way. I've always noticed that Sega's visuals seemed a bit off when it came to muliplat games, I could be mistaken since it was 20yrs ago.

Genesis did however have some killer exclusives I had/loved that SNES didnt have. ie. the X-men games and Lethal Enforcers with the gun.

The Snes also had Lethal Enforcers with the gun

My mistake then, I guess I was only thinking about Lethal Enforcers 2 at that time.
