Forums - Sales - PlayStation 4 hits 20.2 million units sold worldwide

Those are some great numbers. Very exciting time for Sony and Playstation.

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Still no word from MS on XBone sales. I'm beginning to question if they've even sold through that 10 million shipped yet. They shouldn't be being so hush hush.

OT: PS4 broke the 20 million mark! Woooo!

Xbox broke 10 millions for sure, but that is it... i realy think that they are close, but still under, 12 million.

Ps4 advantage is something like 70%, and soon Ps4 will have 50% market share over WiiU and X1! mark my words, this will be a short gen! Microsoft will lauch a new Xbox  in the next 4 years and will try to go for a 1 year lead over Playstation, lust like the Xbox360... the same goes for Nintendo, Next gen nintendo system coming in 3-4 year ( max)

There's a possibility next gen starts like:

2017: New Nintendo console

2018: New MS console

2019: PS5

I really hope MS sells a decent amount of Xbones so they dont go for a year lead over Sony again. Its specs won't be "cooked enough" compared to releasing a year later and rushing a console just to be first brought the rrod last time.

Doesn't matter unless it passes 90M or even 100M.

They should still show info for all consoles. Microsoft didn't have issue telling us it sold 84 million 360's last year and Nintendo didn't have issue reporting 9.2 million Wii U's sold last year. Sony shouldn't just forget to report their other platforms as well

So, MS is so open about sales, huh?  Why don't we know how much the XBO and 360 has actually shipped LTD?  Why do they continue to combine shipments?

Xb one Jan NPD 152K. Feb I'm guessing ~200K = 352K USA to 1 March. USA ~ 60% of Xb one market --> ~600K globally for Jan+Feb = 11.6 LTD more or less.

March Quarter shipments for Xb one will be very interesting. Though MS will not state that number as a stand alone figure, I would guess that at least 90% of Xbox shipments for the March quarter will be Xb one. That will give us a very good indication of VGC Xb one tracking.

why is the XB1 going from doing 150k+ in January to doing 200k+ in February? Does it have anything to do with the amazon only value deal for the XB1? Or are you suggesting an evolve boost due to XB1 exclusive marketing?

According to a lot of people Feb>Jan in the USA almost always. So I was just going with that apparent long term trend. I don;t know Amazon's market share so who knows how much of an effect the short lived Amazon value bundle had on nation-wide sales, including if there was any price matching with retailers who do that sort of thing.

Now imagine what will happen when PS4 gets a price drop when FFXV comes out.

If Xbone doesn't pick up and Microsoft go for a 2017/2018 release then sony should say no ps5 until 2021.  Ps3 kept us happy for 8 years so no reason why the ps4 can't either.  If they did that I think ps4 sales would remain strong and the new xbox would flop hard.  Then when everyone has a big next gen thirst sony launch a much better console with a proper increase and it takes off from 2021 or 2022.

If the Order gave it a proper boost then it's not too undertracked here. maybe 300k?
