As more games like SSBB, MKWii, Zelda Wii, etc. come out, they'll gradually push 3rd parties out of the top 30 best selling games on the Wii. However, the 3rd party titles will still have sold very well.
When more games like Mario and Sonic 2, RE, Final Fantasy, GH4, GH5, Rock Band, Dragon Quest, and Red Steel 2 come out they will gradually push 1st parties out of the top 30 best selling games on the Wii? Of course, truth is- TP games sell fine on the Wii.

I never said that they didn't sell fine. It's just that Nintendo's 1st party IPs are often far superior to 3rd party titles, so they inevitably take the top spots. Third Party titles have a very hard time outselling games like Zelda and Mario, and as more Nintendo games like that come out (including a few new IPs of Wii Fit and Nintendogs caliber), they will inevitably dominate the top 30 like always.

I agree with that. Nintendo is the top publisher and has been so off and on for 22 years. Since only the very best teams in the world can even compete with Nintendo, it is hard for any games to sell as well as Nintendo's. Not only does Nintendo make the highest rated games, but they make many of the most fun games. AFAIAK Nintendo has made the best game 3 years in a row. And I don't mean just on the Wii, I mean on any system.

2006 Casual / Hardcore
Wii Sports / Zelda
2007 Casual / Hardcore
Wii Fit / Super Mario Galaxy
2008 Casual / Hardcore
Mario Kart / Brawl (I haven't played these games yet so maybe I am wrong)

Dear third parties,

If you don't have the balls to compete with Nintendo's first party games, you can go ahead and make your game for a system with less market penetration if you want. It's up to you. But if you're gonna make a shitty game and whine about it, you're just gonna look stupid. So... shut up and make some games that don't suck. Nobody likes a whiner.

Sincerely,
Rubang B

Third Parties have never done poorly on a Nintendo console, they have just never been comparable to Nintendo's own games, and recently have sold better on other systems.

LMAO

do your little numbers and include xbox PS and PS2 and then you will understand why people say 3rd party games sale like crap.

Nice analysis, most interesting part is the N64 numbers. They plummeted after the SNES badly!

@Mars:

Sure the PS3 has more third parties in its' top 10 but its' top 10 sales are less overall due to a much smaller userbase. If you were a third party what would interest you more: the fact that 7 out of the PS3's top 10 are third party compared to only 2 for the Wii or the fact that GH3 sold twice as much on the Wii as the PS3? Third party developers don't care about attach rates per se as long as the sales are solid.

In the end you're blaming Nintendo and making fun of them for having amazing first party studios which result in all of their titles getting real high sales.

07 of the Top 10 PS3 games are Third Party (70%)
15 of the Top 20 PS3 games are Third Party (75%)
23 of the Top 30 PS2 games are Third Party (76.6%)
