Forums - Gaming - What would your ideal RPG Battle system play like?

True, but I was thinking of more on-the-fly button press or a stance. But in Fire Emblem you can't combine attacks between party members like in Chrono Trigger (though you get to use combine attacks in Chrono Cross, but it isn't as many attacks).

I guess take Chrono Cross' play on the world and dungeon maps, or Tales of Symphonia actually, and combine it with Chrono Trigger's battle system but add elements of Fire Emblem with a dash of Legend of Dragoon.

Expound on them all in the best way possible. Turn it into a game that you can have online with alot of players, or offline with only yourself or with friends. This is what I was talking about.

Much smarter squad AI + Mass Effect's realtime fighting + mostly melee based = RPG win.

IMO, my perfect RPG would be realtime, and be similar to KOTOR, aside from the fact you manually input your attack commands, rather than use entirely AI.

Merely because I loved KOTOR and FFXII's system(s), but evenmoreso loved Mass Effect for the fact there was some skill involved. Wrap them all up, and do it properly, and it'd be the best - merely because the Biotic/Tech system for Mass Effect was very intuitive for a realtime game, and meshing that with good AI and Squad commands would be brilliant.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
