Forums - Gaming - The future that lies beyond the future. (Post Mario Maker - No more NSMB?)

After Mario Maker,  do you think Nintendo will ever be able to release 'just a NEW Super Mario Bros' game again? Do you think they'll fuse the series but keep the "NSMB" name? Do you think they'll continue to create NSMB (like for the 3DS and Wii-U successors) but with focus on some fantastic new power-ups to justify it?

They will probably keep making those, but maybe they include a Mario Maker editor with them.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I was asking this myself another day, but I expect to have some bigger interval between the next interations. Its a franchise that sells and don't demand as many people to make.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Nah, we'll probably see a Newer Super Mario Bros. instead of New. :P

I think there will, but it may not come out as frequently as before.. they will need to have something really awesome for people who have Mario Maker to get the new one.

This is why I think Nintendo held out on making an official Mario Maker as long as possible.

Hopefully they fuse the two and add new features into the level editor to encourage people playing mario maker to upgrade.
