Forums - Microsoft - Sony & Microsoft discuss Blu Ray drive for 360

In any case, 2 SKUs is simpler than 3, I don't know why you can't see that.

I asked you to list all the features, differences, and advantages and disadvantages of each SKU.

No you didn't. you changed your original post to say that after you realized you were told exactly what the differences were between the 3xobox skus...

I never changed my original post.....

In any case...this is why i said wii is for you as its only one sku. you like simple...there you go...

That's not what the discussion was about.

You might also recall the upgrades each of Microsoft's consoles has gotten. Adding HDMI, changing motherboard technologies (going to change again). A launch Premium is different from a current Premium, so you could count those as different SKUs.

How did I miss this thread?

There are only two PS3 skus (right now one, the forty gig), and there are three sometimes four xbox 360 ones (You can still find cores). I think the PS3 one is a lot less confusing.

Not to pick sides in this mess but...

PS3 SKUs:

60GB - $600 (Now $450)
- Full BC with upscailing required, no rumble.
20GB - $500 (Now $300-$350)
- Full BC with upscailing required, no rumble, no Wi-Fi, various things missing.
80GB - $500
- Limited BC with upscailing required, no rumble.
40GB - $400
- No PS2 BC, still no rumble, but rumble controllers are available seperately (I think?).
Upcomming 120-180GB (which ever it will be) - $???
- ????

360 SKUs:

Core - $300
- Its a core unit 360. (Is a stripped down 360)
Standard - $400
- Its a standard 360. (Is a regulard 360)
Elite - $500
- Its an elite 360. (Has more stuff than regular 360)

Now which do you think is offering the most consumer confusion?

I hate when people do this.... How many PS3 SKUs are for sale right now? 2, how many for 360? 4, Core, Arcade, Premium, and Elite. How many add-on's are available for the 360? A bunch, HD DVD drive, USB Wi-fi, harddrives... So really what is more confusing? 2 SKUs, 1 with a bigger harddrive and BC, or 4 SKUs with all sorts of add-ons and differences?

hmm the Core isn't for sale anymore... its been rebranded to the Arcade (Core + mem card and games).

Just goes to show how confusing Microsofts marketing is.

Nah, you're just being ignorant

You can't ignore the fact that the PS3 has been going through a identity crisis since its been introduced.

Two cancelled models in less then a year? and now the 80 gigs are dissappearing and rumours going around that it will be replaced by a fifth SKU?

I'm being ignorant? You're just being a know-nothing 360 fanboy. Has there ever been more than 2 PS3 SKU's on the market at once? No. Sony is keeping it simple for buyers, either get SKU 1 with X features, or SKU 2 with X features. Microsoft has 3 SKU's renaming one, and multiple add-ons, unless you are a complete idiot you'd see that Sony is keeping it far simpler than Microsoft.

Frankly I'm getting tired of your stupidity.

How is cancelling and phasing out 2 SKU's in less then twelve months keeping it simple?
