Forums - Gaming - Will we ever see another game with a 95+ metascore?

Can game ratings be as high as before?

Sure, we'll see other ga... 144 86.75%

No, no other game will ev... 13 7.83%

Maybe for some new IPs, b... 9 5.42%

Total:166

I'm sure it will be. Unless a reviewer waits for all the reviews to come out and slap it with an obscene score, just to lower the metascore.

Now the real question is... will there be another game that reaches 98 and dares to go higher? I'm sure it will. I'd certainly love to see a game go above 99.

Of course we will. I've got an awful lot of confidence in the new Metal Gear, Scalebound, and The Last Guardian (if it's ever released).

Zelda is a definite.

Yes. Titanfall 2 has to release sometime.

Zelda U probably this year

GTA VI most likely as well, and some other big franchises as fallout, elder scrolls, mario, uncharted.....

there may be fewer but there'll be some

NES, SNES, N64, GC, Wii, WiiU, GB, GBC, GBA, DS, 3DS, Mega Drive, Game Gear, PS1, PS2, PSP, XBOX 360, Atari Lynx

Don't understand why some people are acting like 95% scores are common, it's very rare for a game to score 95%+, but yeah there will be a handful of such games this gen no doubt.

Most likely Zelda and Uncharted because of bias. Same goes for anything Rockstar and Naughty Dog could come up with...

Though as usual, a 3D mario in the footsteps of Galaxy or 64 has a very good shot at it, because Nintendo.

Most console Zelda games score above 95. The only one that didn't was Skyward Sword, and that had unconventional controls that knocked it down a couple points. I definitely think Zelda U will bounce back.

Not true, only 1 Zelda game has ever scored above 95%, OoT.

The only other Zelda game to reach 95% is Twilight Princess when you round it up to the nearest whole number.

It's possible but highly unlikely Zelda U will score 95+, it's pretty much guaranteed to score 90+ though.

We'll certainly see way less 95+ games this gen than the last, but I think even this year we're probably going to get a few. I'd say Zelda, Uncharted, Final Fantasy (is it coming out this year?), Xenoblade and Metal Gear Solid have a good shot, maybe Batman too.

Edit: and I feel like trying to predict the exact metascore of each one just because. So this is how I see it going:
Zelda Wii U - 96
Uncharted 4 - 90
Final Fantasy XV - 93
Xenoblade Chronicles X - 92
Metal Gear Solid V - 95
Batman: Arkham Knight - 89

Probably not since it is only 60% done, but the demo did slow down development on the full game. Spring 2016 seems to be the earliest possible release date.

You are counting the gamerankings score. This thread is talking about metascore.

You have:

OoT at 99

Twilight Princess(Gamecube) at 96(this is where you were wrong)

Wind Waker at 96

Twilight Princess(Wii) at 95

Majora's Mask at 95

Link to the Past(GBA, probably would have scored higher on the SNES) at 95

That's every Console Zelda game sans Skyward Sword that got a metascore attached to it.
