Entirely possible. However, the real issue is that more of the reliable reviewers are starting to consider abandoning scores. Which means that the clickbait sites that use scores to get easy clicks will start to make up more and more of the Metacritic averages. Which could really cause chaos in the metascores (as if it wasn't flawed enough)

This year im pretty sure we are gonna see a few of them: MGS V, Zelda, The witcher 3, Batman, Bloodborne or Uncharted 4 all of them look to me like possible 95+ scores.

Most console Zelda games score above 95. The only one that didn't was Skyward Sword, and that had unconventional controls that knocked it down a couple points. I definitely think Zelda U will bounce back.

Others that have a shot include, but are not limited to, Xenoblade Chronicles X (original scored 92), Uncharted 4, Final Fantasy XV and...wow, I can't really think of anything else that has a huge chance.

Batman Arkham Knight and MGSV.

No Batman or Metal Gear game has ever scored a 95, so I'll believe it when I see it. Although I will say that they do have a shot, based on what I've seen of them.

Edit: I'm dumb. Batman Arkham City got a 96 on the PS3. Weird that it was bumped down on the 360.

Zelda U for sure and maybe Uncharted too.

Also considering MGS4 got a 94 its a safe bet to assume MGSV is gonna get over 95 since its a big change in the series, its gonna be the first open world MGS game.

Edit: Also MGS2 got a 96 so it has scored over 95 before.

Of course, GTA VI, RDR2

Add me on Xbox: DWTKarma

I could see an XB1 exclusive getting a 95 or higher if it was really good. A lot of the Xbox only sites give very generous scores and certain sites seem to be more harsh on PS games.

I have a hard time seeing another PS game getting a 95. Even if UC4 is nearly perfect its wont get much above a 92 (Polygon, Giant Bomb and a few others will give it a 7 or 8 its hard to get a 95 when you have a handful of 7s out there). TLOU2 wont score 95 part of the reason TLOU scored so well is because it blew away peoples expectations, the second time around expectations will be higher and reviewers will be looking for reasons to take points away.

As for 3rd party.... GTA 6, maybe a Bethesda game, I would say Bioware with ME4 but seeing that DA:I is amazing and it only has a 89 I don't think it can get 95.

add me, the more the merrier.

True. Unfortunately, it being open world could be a double edged sword with reviewers. Some may love it, while others despise it, no matter how well it's implemented. We'll have to see.

Reviewers are really harsh this generation because now they're less corrupt than before, but I'm sure that there are game developers and programmers out there that are still able to bribe them even if it's more difficult now more than ever because we're onto them.
