Do You Miss The Pop-In And Play Gaming Consoles like all consoles where from the first gen till the sixth gen or do you prefer the more complicated nature of today's console?

In my case I definitely prefer the pop-in and play consoles.

yes

It's interesting how modern consoles can take more than 5 second to load a game when the Atari 2600 does it instantly. I thought technology was supposed to become faster as time passed D:

I don't miss them. Got one in my room right now ; ) I'm pretty pleased with the consoles today too, at least with my Wii U. Just tap the game on the tablet and it loads right up~

X360 and Wii were pop in and play.

So is the PS4 to some extent (installs so fast it's pretty much pop in and play).

He means consoles that didn't really have an OS, they just boot straight into whatever game you have in the console at that time. Such as the N64.

When considered to consoles such as the Ps2 and Ps1 there not really pop-in and play consoles.

one game.

we can now instantly start dozens of games.

But don't you miss the simplicity of getting up and walking to the shelf and taking the game out of the package, walking back to the console and just pop it in and play. And if you want to play a different game you just make a simple repeat of the same procedure.

Simple and easy.

Who says you can't still do that if you want to?

I guess the difference is you have to go thru an OS and menus before getting to the game, or all your games are downloaded, so you don't need to shuffle games.

No, today everything is just too complicated. With all these consoles with their fast install times, easy to access internet without getting up and patches and DLC that enrich the gaming experience.

Just completely awful today.

I preffer pop in and play the wiiu is like that while xbox is now like a pc, i think the ps4 has best of both worlds. Installing games in the background to get the best performance later on while allready playing them.

3DS with auto boot :3
