Forums - General - Garfield Minus Garfield

"Who would have guessed that when you remove Garfield from the Garfield comic strips, the result is an even better comic about schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life? Friends, meet Jon Arbuckle. Let’s laugh and learn with him on a journey deep into the tortured mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness in a quiet American suburb."

Just like looking into a mirror :)

hehe,

I'd read that every morning with my oatmeal and apple cider.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

The curious thing about these strips is that while they may make Jon look pathetic....does adding a cat and a dog make them any less existential?

Everybody knows Garfield's better without Garfield. There's far fewer recurring jokes that way, and far more schizophrenic dialogue. Doesn't make for especially exciting strips when Jon is not present or says nothing, though.

Already beat you to it: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=18806

I hate Garfield so much. But I never realized how much he was holding back such potential greatness.

Woops....well at least I went to the effort of embedding some samples.

I don't know how I missed it when you first posted it.  My friend showed it to me this week when I went to visit him.

Looks like your thread didn't do so hot either....maybe we should have included pictures of dead dogs or leo-j/AoA meowing.
