Forums - Gaming - Awesome games with awful boxarts.

I probably shouldn't post this one as the game hasn't even been released yet and they could still change it before it releases, but Nintendo sure could have made something better than this:

Also, I still don't understand the need for the totally out of place purple/green paint on the corners...

looks like the slime from Nickelodeon channel, especially with all of the orange (Nick logo)

I always think of this one when it comes to awful cover arts:

I think this could just be the worst cover art ever made. I don't think I've ever seen anything worse, what a colossal fuckup.

I remember seeing this in a Target once and that night I was bitching and ranting about it of Facebook. I know it sounds weird but I have a background in art and design so I do things like this often. Not only is this simply awful. They got everything about it completely wrong.

- Critic quotes should be on the back of the box, not the front.

- The game's title was shrunken down in order to fit the other quotes.

- Too many logos on the front. Rocksteady and DC Comics could have easily been located on the back.

- Image of Batman is too large. You can't tell what the hell he's doing.

- At least three different font sizes are used in the quote "5 out of 5 One of the greatest games ever made. Period." (not counting the G4 TV part which is correct for a quotation). This was most likely done to avoid covering Batman's head.

- The Batman Arkham logo floats in the background with no rhyme or reason.

- "Game of the Year" banner shouldn't be the same size as the PS3 banner. It should be smaller.

- The tearing in the background makes no sense. It was made only because the art felt intent on using white text to distinguish from the rest of the red text that shouldn't be on the front covr anyway.

What's ironic about all this is that this boxart represents a comic book character. They could have easily gotten someone from DC to draw good original Batman art.

Check out my art blog: http://jon-erich-art.blogspot.com

The north american Ico box art is pretty bad, however the European version looked sublime.

I love the GCN, and most of its boxart is pretty top tier, but for two of its biggest games, I just can't deal. Something about them is so offputting to me. Thankfully SSBU and MK8 turned out to be gorgeous.

For the incredible game that lied within, the boxart was incredibly generic.

That reminds, me the Japanese boxart for Corruption.

They got the best box art for Echoes though.

I actually love that box art. Mostly because it just seems as if Samus is like "I'm back, bitches" and that was extremely appropriate at the time.

I don't even know how megaman got popular at all with those horrendous box arts

Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Ps4:110million

Xbox one :75 million( was 65)

Wii u: 20 milliion

So bland from the OG N64 version where Mario was flying through the sky...

Never a fan of this... the most Dull Zelda box art of all time... the gold and silver seem faded away and depressing looking...

Why is Blanka owning the World Reigning Street Fighter and the  Strongest Woman in the World??? Annoyed me since I was 9...
