A lot of parent's were sold on buying there kids the 'Playstation Portable' because it told you exactly what it was in the name and people seemed to like that idea. Maybe the name 'vita' was a little too pretentious and went over the heads of consumers?

The 3DS was instantly familiar after 150 million people bought the DS it just needed to be priced correctly.

Thoughts?

Here's what Vita needed to succeed imo

-$200 price tag. Don't bother with 3g. Don't bother with touch pads on the back. Don't bother with OLED screens. You'd have had it with the same internals.

-Lock down a major 3rd party. They really should have kept their good relationship with Capcom for Monster Hunter AND gotten Los Santos Stories or equivalent.

-GTVita! How has this not happened yet? They really couldn't have had too much faith.

-Come out BEFORE Nintendo! This ended up hurting them because they needed a head start and they really could've made some headway when 3DS struggled out the gate with the above changes AND it would have afforded them more of an opportunity to lock down those 3rd parties with a higher market share.
