Meat actually is a necessary part of a balanced diet, its the main source of protein and iron in our diets.

Humans are omnivores which means that we are 'designed' (for lack of a better word) to eat both meat and plants, not one or the other.

Actually a well planned out diet can give you all the protein you need. The advantage of meat is that you get all the amino acids you need from one source, but if a vegetarian eats grains, fruits, vegetables, legumes and nuts, then he too will have all the amino acids he needs. So vegetarianism hinges on diversity of foods, which can be very tasty. Former record holding sprinter Carl Lewis is a vegetarian, so are other world class athletes.

I believe all of us vegetarians who have managed to go years without protein or vitamin deficiency can attest to that.

If you go vegetarian and don't live off of doritos and twinkies, and instead carefully balancing your diet you should be fine. Just replace meat with tofu or quorn or any of the various meat substitutes and legumes out there. And a vegetarian can still eat eggs and drink milk. And eating veggies for vitamins. I can not see whats so difficult about that. Frankly I think the meat substitutes often taste better than the real thing. Veggie pepperoni is wayyyy better than real pepperoni. The real thing is disgustingly greasy.  Only thing I miss from the meat world is fish, there is no good fish substitute out there. Tried a couple, they tasted absolutely foul.

Now if people were trying to make an argument against veganism I might agree, thats just silly. There really is no point in not drinking milk because the cows are treated poorly etc. Just buy organic brands if you care how the animals are treated.

What pisses me off about eating dog is that they beat them to death so that they are tender. I saw a sick video of it once and hoped it was a one off, but it happens all the time apparently.
And they also hang live dogs when they are due to be slaughtered by putting hooks through their feet, it's fucking sick.
However my dad did work in China for a short time (just under 2 months and he ate cat while he was there, he said it was quite nice.

No, of course not. I was just making the case of dogs. It happens to all animals, they way there all transported is the worst, meat should be more locally sourced so it doesn't happen. Have you seen how they transport horses overseas? it's horrible, I could never do it.

Cows, pigs, chicken, turkey, and a little rabbit are like the only animal I eat. But cat and dogs are pets and shouldn't be eatten (I know rabbits are pets.. but there arn't smart creatures). I know it's there culture but there sick to eat something that knows there name when you call it.
