I have small hands, so dualshock 3 all the way for me xd
the best game controller of all time is by far the Gamecube one. I've played with basically every single controller created for an array of consoles and it feels the most natural
I like the Playstation 1/2 controllers as well, but those don't feel quite as balanced. X-box is too clunky, SNES/NES too simply (despite being quite solid), N64 not bad but again, not that natural of a feel, Saturn ehhh, Genesis ehhh, Master System (weirdly similar to NES), etc. etc. etc.
The Gamecube controller just has the perfect layout and how the shoulder buttons are curved for the hands is great. also for whatever reason the analog buttons on a Gamecube controller just feel mega great

Gamecube controller would be good for virtually and type of game, it's simply an extremely efficient controller with very intelligently placed buttons. The X-Y are differentiated from the A-B buttons well, the analog sticks are very complimentary in size to one another and easy to access, z button positioned well next to the R trigger
Dualshock 4 is awesome. I'm surprised to see Nintendo controllers in this thread, I despise them.
Definitely the DualShock 4.
It really is amazing, people aren't just making it up.
My favourite classic controller is SEGA Saturn's.

For current games, XBox 360's (wired!).

Gamecube, hands down. It is a controller that has stood the test of time. Maybe it's because of Melee though...

But no rumble Feature guys.
OT: It's a Dead tie between the N64 Controller and the Dreamcast controller... Both great for ALL the games offered on each system.
The Gamecube and the Xbox 360 controllers IMO are some of the worst gaming controllers in history when it came to fighting 2d games (360 d-pad is stiff and the GC D-pad was small and the placement of the buttons are horrid for fighting games too. Both located on the bottom of the controller, my thumb felt Iike it was going to get dislocated everytime I tried a Hadoken motion) . Yuck
