Didn't Midway buy Psygnosis in their time, or was that another Sony purchase? Can't remember, but that branch turned a huge loss for whomever bought it as far as I recall.

psygnosis was bought by sony a long time ago and is known as sce studio liverpool

Their crap games didn't sell that well either. Sure, they made money on them, but not enough to sustain a business of their size.

Besides, if all 3rd parties start making crap games of the same style, there'll be market saturation and the strategy will backfire.
