Forums - Nintendo - What's up with Ocarina of Time 3D's pricing? (Kind of Rant)

Are scalpers the ban of your existence?

Yes 19 100.00%

Total:19

So one day I was just on youtube when I came across a comment saying that the he wanted to play Ocarina of Time 3D, but he couldn't because it was so expensive. I thought that was a crazy, they sold lots of copies of OoT 3D so it is not rare at all, must be cheap! So I check eBay first, and to my dismay, I find people selling it 60$ without the box and 70$-80$ with the box. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK? I double check Vgchartz, and yep, it sold over 3.5 million copies, not rare AT ALL. Why? Why do these fucking scalpers have to ruin it for everyone? God, I hate them so much.

Glad I bought this game when it was new...

What says you?

Glad I bought mine when I had the chance.

OP: You can still find it in some Mom and Pop shops in my Neighborhood. Albeit it is still priced at $40.

I'm sure if he goes to his local VG small business store, he could find it as well....

If Nintendo wanted to be really clever, they could put it back in print for a limited run right after Majora's Mask launches to grab some more sales. Doubt they will though, due to the rise in operating costs it would bring as well as the fact that it is available digitally. So instead, bank on an eshop sale.

I guess I should be glad that I got it when it first came out, it was my first 3DS game now that I think about it. From what I heard though it's out of print so it would be getting higher prices. Just look at Amiibo.

it's not the scalpers that cause the issue though. this happens with popular games that a lot of people want that end up limited (obviously more often than not it happens with very old games)

the scalpers do take advantage of the situation, but they aren't the ones generally driving demand. the issue is there are so many fans and gamers who are willing to pay whatever for a game. gamers are paying the high prices. if they didn't they would drop. just saying, the sellers don't create the prices, the buyers do
