Don't get me wrong, I'm not on that train (of those who are pessimistic about a new Metroid)! xD I'm talking about Prime games... I hope Nintendo stick with them on home consoles, that's what I'm saying.

I have no fear for the franchise, I'm just happy that the Prime Trilogy is doing amazingly well. :)

Yeah i totally agree. Maybe it´s the game Retro is working on, remember that Metroid has its 30year anniversary next year so it´s reasonable to assume some kind of reveal or sneak peek at this years E3 just like Star Fox last year.

Yep. I think it's safe to assume they'll have something for next year. I'm also hopeful for some tease at this E3, but I won't be surprised if they hold any announcements until next year.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I'm sure this was Nintendo's plan all along. They do this all the time, sending hints to us by releasing software predecessors. The Trilogy was, in essence, supposed to get us ready for the new Metroid that will be announced this year.

Nothing to be really surprised about, although I'm super happy that the Trilogy is actually selling a lot. I picked it up last week :)

I also picked it up a few days ago, for 9,99€ it´s a steal.

So I was bored and checked out the ranking of the top 20 downloaded games on the Eshop:

1. Wii Street U (no idea what this is, is it a game?)

2. The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD (this game must have pretty high digital sales, it's always in the recent rankings as well)

3. Trine 2: Director's cut (What? A third party game?!! OMG #sarcasm)

4. Super Mario World

5. The Legend of Zelda: a Link to the Past

6. Art Academy: SketchPad

7. Earthbound (people really want to see this back huh)

8. DuckTales: Remastered

9. NES Remix

10. Super Mario Galaxy 2 (already in the top ten with only 2 weeks worth of sales! The fans want Galaxy 3, Nintendo)

11. Metroid Prime Trilogy (with only 6 days worth of sales and closing in fast on SMG2! Listen to the fans Nintendo!)

12. Mario Kart 8

13. Child of Light (maybe Nintendo will get future third party support from "small" games like this)

14. Super Mario 3D World

15. Super Mario Bros. 3

16.  The Legend of Zelda: the Minish Cap

17. NES Remix 2

18. Toki Tori 2+ (never heard of it before this, gameplay videos looked cool though)

19. Super Mario Kart (why?)

20. The Legend of Zelda (again, why?)

Wind Waker came out first in Digitial if you remember.

Earthbound I think was released for the first time on the Wii U eshop in Europe. Hence why it is so high.

Can someone post the US charts?

We had a Metroid game on every console except the N64 so i really don´t know why you guys are so pessimistic about a new one coming to the Wii U. The controller would be perfect for scanning stuff that´s displayed on the Tv etc

Yeah, and they only hesitated with the series on the N64 because they didn't know how to work with it in 3D. Obviously that's not a problem now. I'm certain it's in development; I guess the question is just what style is the game in? 2D? Prime? Other M? I guess we'll find out.

Thank heavens Sakamoto hesitated right?

Yes! Can you imagine if we had gotten a half-assed attempt at Metroid on the N64 that would've looked awful a few years after release instead of the greatness that is Metroid Prime?

What are the odds I'd click on this thread right before you replied.

It was more of a jab at Sakamoto, but your point is good too.

A lot of the older VC titles hit the list because of people upgrading from the Wii VC.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Must be making Nintendo a good amount of money. I don't believe it's too expensive to make them available. And people who missed the games (I was lucky enough to buy the game 2x for $10 each) get the chance to buy them for a good price. Everybody wins!
