I've been thinking a lot about Xenoblade Chronicles X recently, especially in light of all the new info that's been coming out, and I couldn't help but notice that there seem to be many similarities between it and expectations for what the upcoming Legend of Zelda game for Wii U will be. Now, I'll admit that I know almost nothing about the Xenoblade games, but I am quite familiar with Zelda. I know that Xenoblade is an RPG, and Zelda is not, so the similarities won't go too far, but I'd just like to point a few things out.
Some of the major aspects of Xenoblade Chronicles X are it's massive world, many sidequests that are available, and it's supposed non-linear storyline. What many people are looking for from the upcoming Zelda game is also a massive world that won't feel empty, and hence will require many sidequests and things of that nature to fill it up and make it feel like a fully realized world. Also, there's been an outcry for the new Zelda game to feature a non-linear storyline, meaning that you can accomplish different things like dungeons in different orders, and Nintendo has hinted that this will be the case. Also, Aonuma has said something to the effect that decisions made by the player will change the world in some way. I don't know if this will be the case for Xenoblade X, but it could fit in with the whole non-linear aspect. I guess I'm just saying that it seems like Xenoblade Chronicles X is the game that many people are hoping the new Zelda will be. I'm not sure if this has been discussed before but I thought it was kinda cool. Besides things like combat mechanics and the overall genre of the game (RPG vs. Adventure), are there any other similarities to be found between Xenoblade Chronicles X and Zelda Wii U, or are there really not that many similarities? What do you guys think?
