And don't say they release "perfectly working" games all times. And the laggy and broken SSB Brawl online mode? And don't get me started with their past broken releases like the entire Virtual Boy and the unforgetable Power Glove. And all this "3rd parties fear Nintendo games" BS is out of controle. Nintendo basically does 2D/3D platformers, RPGs, kart racing games and a fighting game that is completely different of all the other fighting games. That's almost zero intersection between what they do and the kind of games 3rd parties release. Probably, Lego games are one of the games that are most in shock with Nintendo ones and guess what? It's always on Wii U and 3DS! Do you think that CoD, NFS, GTA, Far Cry, Battlefield and the Elder Scrolls have one, just one, Nintendo game that is slightest similar to be a competitor? It's not like someone goes shopping for a new shooter and comes home with Mario Kart instead. |
1.) The two Pokemon versions was an effort by the Designer to promote contacting other players and playing with one another, which is why the only real difference is which Pokemon are available. It's the main reason he has thus far refused to put a proper version on the console and had to be badgered into allowing online trades, preferring it to be via cable in person. Most people don't buy both.
Otherwise, Nintendo's DLC's are generally very reasonable (such as all the new tracks on Mario Kart).
2.) Nintendo's games certainly don't launch perfectly every time, but they tend to go a heck of a lot smoother than most games do these days. I actually think it's a testament to Nintendo's quality that you had to go back to the early experimental days of gaming to find trashy releases, though I personally thought the original Wii Remote was pretty crappy and that they ought to have supplied a free "Wii Plus Remote" to owners once they made the changes that should have been there to begin with. Still, they've had an excellent track record the past few generations, and all of my Nintendo consoles (from NES on) still work wonderfully.
3.) It's definitely silly to suggest that 3rd party games fear competition from Nintendo games. Really, Nintendo games are just about their own genre; no one can make one of that kind as well as they can, but when you look at 3rd party multiplats it's clear that no one is trying to. People don't get a hankering for Assassin's Creed but instead purchase the latest Donkey Kong as they're completely different games.
Really, if the 3rd party Devs DO have a concern it's that we Wii U owners are only interested in Nintendo games which, while not true for me, often plays out that way. After all, why would I play Assassin's Creed 4 on the Wii U when it would be a much better experience on the PS4? At least a solid portion of us who play the Wii u also own another platform (PS4 and PC here) and multiplats are just undeniably better on those more often than not (there are exceptions like Ray Man), so that further eats into their potential sales on the system.
I think that's enough rambling for me :p
