I wasn't a frequent poster back then so hadn't thought of the HD collections. Did people really complain about those? I can vaguely understand someone disliking single game remasters/remakes (if they're consistent with the opinion), but what's there to hate about collections? Most of them don't fit with any of the complaints people try to make against standard remasters.

I've never understood it myself, either, but there was a fair amount of negativity.  Sony left off backwards compatiblity on purpose, they're forcing people to rebuy games, they're wasting time on ports instead of new games, they're doing this because the PS3 has no new games, they're looking for a quick cash-in, they're money-hatting publishers ... basically what you'd expect with people grasping at straws.  Silent Hill and MGS had a ton of heat, especially, as did the PSP GoW collection.  Because OMG PORTS, I guess.

Personally, I can't understand people getting bent out of shape because they have more choices.  Makes no sense to me.

I can sympathize with that 2nd one. Sony literally broke into my house a few years ago and told me they'd kill me and my pet hamster if i didn't buy a copy of the GOW collection. It was terrifying. I went and bought 6 copies just to be safe.

But yeah, i find it all pretty difficult to understand. Though i'd probably be much more tolerant of people disliking them if they maintained that opinion across all titles, not just those they have no interest in.

lol so nintendo is now suddenly the victim of unwarranted hate after their fans have been hopping into every tlou remastered thread, for example(and this obviously is not the only case), to berate sony for being so greedy as to rob their fans of their hard earned money

all while nintendo has also been releasing games like wind waker hd and majora's mask and no no one was hating on nintendo for this because obviously to any sensible person it is only a problem when there is a lack of new games to play... which is more of a problem for nintendo's platform ironically

the thing i find most amusing though is that if we look at the actual games lists the ps4 and xbox have by leaps and bounds more new games per year than the wii u could hope to have and yet we are still getting threads like this one

If you said had leaps and bounds more ports and remasters then I'd agree. But I'll leave at that,for this particular topic though. Don't want to turn into a huge fight over ports and remasters. I've said my piece xD

Would be nice to have the Mario Galaxy games in HD.

The game doesn't even look good, though. DMC4 still looks better and it released at 60fps years earlier.
