*THE MAIN POINT of THIS THREAD - is to SEE how far/close will Wii be in 2008 compared to GC with it`s 7 mln. consoles sold in 2003.

I decided to make a comparison between GC numbers of 2003 and Wii numbers of 2008, because:
1) 2008 is second year, when Wii will be selling WW for FULL year - 2003 was second year, when GC was selling WW for FULL year.
2) In 2003 were released BIG games like Madden 2004, F-Zero GX, Beyond Good & Evil, Tiger Woods 2004.  Games like Madden 2009, Mario Kart Wii, No More Heroes, Tiger Woods 2009 also aimed to 2008.
3) 2008 is second Wii year, 2003 was second GC. GC sold 6 mln. in 2003.
GC launched in September 2001. Was selling for 16 month.
Wii launched in November 2006. Was selling for 13,5 month.

16 month of 2001/2002 close to 2 year? YES.
13,5 month of 2006/2007 close to 2 year? NO.
25,5 month of 2006-2008 close to 2 year? YES.

Overall:
2002 GC = 2007 Wii/3.2.
2003 GC = 2008 Wii/3.2.

The differences:
1) GC cost $99-149$ in 2003 for whole year, Wii cost $250 for now.
2) GC was more powerful than PS2, Wii is the least powerful console this generation.  GC hadn't xbox graphics, Wii now has.  GC hadn't friend codes, Wii now has. Wii is more reliable than GC was. DMC was exclusive and GTA3 timed exclusive.
3) GC was selling after PS2 had no competitors, now Wii was selling at same time as PS3. FIGHT!

Wii numbers were higher, because of shortages, gc numbers are lower because there was almost no shortages, but gc already have a competitors.

USA - 22k <> USA - 57k
Japan - 17k <> Japan - 100k
Others - 15k <> Others - 70k
Total - 54k <> Total - 227k
GC*3.2 vs Wii = +136.2

after 1 month Wii is already tracking 400k above the 3.2*GC it should reach.

3.2*7=22.4million this year if on track.

With it being 400k over already, it should easily do at least 27mil this year, so it should reach 47+mil by 12/31/08. =)
