You can always see how the Wii looks on your TV first and go from there. But you have to fork out a little extra cash whether you buy the component cables (which I'm sure you already though of that) or the HD upscaler. With the HD upscaler, the difference isn't huge, but your biggest advantage is having to use a single HDMI cable as opposed to the comparatively bulky component cables. On my older television (2008 rear projection SXRD), the HD upscaler removed the ghosting effect, made the colors a little more vibrant, and slightly sharpen the graphics. On my new television (2014 Sony LED 630 series), I haven't tested the component cables on it to do a comparison. But it looks better on the newer television, because... it's a newer and better television. Good luck, man.

It looked quite bad on Panasonic viera 42" plasma, but I didn't tried to mess to much with the setting. Will try on Sony bravia 46" led.
Will give a though about HDMI since ps3, ps4, x360 will fight for the 3 home theather entries.
